Alcamtar04-18-08, 04:19 PM | I have completed creating a base Freeciv scenario based on the Trail Maps. I managed to get both Trail Maps in their entirety, plus a little extra in the west and north (I kept adding hexes until I hit the size limit.) The map is hex-for-hex faithful to the trail maps, including roads but no resources, except I used resources as markers for the locations of cities and special features like volcanoes. I used Pandius for additional territories at the edges. Adri Varma is freelanced based on the B3 version on Pandius. It is playable right now with Freeciv 2.09, but I want to finish a few more things before making it generally available: -- I am working on getting 28 Mystaran nations written up with correct leaders and city names. -- Need to playtest for balance. Staying faithful to the maps mean that the nations are not well balanced under freeciv rules. There is little habitable terrain in the Broken Lands, for example. -- I want to create a custom set of rules for a more Mystaran game, adding magic and units and Wonders appropriate to Mystara and getting rid of all the high tech stuff. (Who needs airplanes when you have heldannic warbirds?) -- Custom tiles would be nice, for terrain, flags, and units. I have no idea what the flags of Mystaran nations look like, though, and I'm not much of an artist. Maybe could convert tiles used in map making. -- I'd like to create a second version that includes all the cities in the trailmaps pre-built and assigned to their respective nations. That would allow a game where you take over an existing nation and see what you can do with it. -- Convert the data files for use with Freeciv 2.1 Anyway if anyone is interested in playtesting or working on this, let me know. |
