Sep 26, 2005 15:53:41 I did something a little crazy today. I bought a guy's whole Planescape 2e book collection. I usually do not do things like this unless every book is at least half off the cover price; I haven't bought anyone's collection of anything in a few years. But when I saw this auction, I just had to have it. I wasn't going to let anyone else have a shot at it.

It's not that I'm rich or anything. I usually never spend more than $100 on myself, whether it's for clothes or entertainment or what have you. I'm a graduate student, for god's sake. But I've been really enjoying the few Planescape things I have, and running a small game, and I needed to have more. I think I might be going nuts.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I had a bid in too and was the high bidder for a couple of days, basically hoping I got lucky. Oh well I wasent really prepaired to spend that much on them anyways, although you are lucky in that you basically have the whole collection in one shot.

Sep 26, 2005 19:15:46 Happened to me. I heard about the setting and a few weeks later I bought the basic box. A few months later, I had bought every single PS book I could get my hands on. But PS books are quite rare here in Brazil so I only had the basic box, a few adventures and Faces of Evil: The Fiends. After a year or so, I found, in the same week, a guy selling his whole collection of PS, which featured around 20 books/boxes (but he didn't have hellbound) and another guy selling just Hellbound. Without even thinking I put up bids that would empty my bank account but thank the Gods for that function that once you set a value, the site automatically raises your bids until the set value (dunno how it is called in english). Fortunately, thanks to this function, I'm not bankrupt at the moment and missing just a few books to complete my collection. So yes, I'm addicted to PS.

Definitely. I was on a kick for a while to own all things D&D. But I'm off of that now, and I've even gotten around to selling some of the stuff. But there are still things I want to buy... ah well, not nearly as bad as it used to be.

Yes. Yes it has. I am currently collecting PS books and sets and haven't finished my collection yet and am dying to get the rest. I know how you feel, and it must be great to have the whole collection now. Congrats!

Sep 29, 2005 16:16:55 I believe there are one or two things that aren't in his collection but hey, most of it is there. What I can't believe is that everything was transacted so quickly - Monday I won, Tuesday I found out shipping and paid, and he sent it off that day. Now I'm on pins and needles waiting. I'll have to work extra hard on my homework in the meantime so I can open up some time for myself once it arrives. :D

Sep 29, 2005 17:09:56 I went on a PS bender, but I had bought MOST when it first came out. I was missing (I think) Planes of Conflict, The Elemental Planes book, and Faction War, and a few mods.

Well, I got the Elemental book (expensive ), and a few week later some guy sold a mint PoC and threw in all the mods as a bonus! :D. I called it quits as I never like the Faction War plot.

Earlier this year, standing in a used bookstore, I came across Faction War for 7.50USD. :D

So, NOW I have the whole collection.
