#1brun01Oct 07, 2005 15:14:25 | So the Dark Sun Forum is the second most posted and has the second most threads (35,064) on the WotC boards, losing only to Dragonlance (42,699), a published setting. Grayhawk, who has 30% less threads and 54% percent less posts, is not published, but has a living campaing running. Am I the only one who sees something wrong in this picture? |
#2OninotakiOct 07, 2005 17:18:55 | nope, its been irritating me for a long time now, 1 hard cover thats all i want just one hard cover! |

Ya but have you been on the DL board. I spent some time over there and found that the discussions were boring and many of the people were really uninformed in a really published world. Add to that, but they also have very few original ideas floating around the board- whereas the Dark Sun board is full of great material created by the fans. |
#4Shei-NadOct 07, 2005 18:11:33 | After what they showed us in the Dragon and Dungeon magazines, I really hope wizard does NOT release 3.5 Dark Sun stuff... Anyways, d20 is a much better vessel for Dark Sun than D&D, IMO anyways. Now if wizard wants to release my unedited stuff, that's another thing... ;) |
#5dunselOct 07, 2005 18:13:42 | I actually prefer it this way! If WotC decided to print something official, it would no doubt a) cause massive confusion to anyone attempting to start up a new DS campaign. b) players tend to cling to the rules which will give them the biggest advantage, so one set of rules is always best. It minimizes the whining. I believe the hard work put in the last 3+ years has been admirable and I wouldn't change a thing! I personally, don't have the time to create and covert an entire world. Thanks guys for making DS 3.x a reality! Now if I could just find two more players... |
#6Shei-NadOct 07, 2005 18:23:35 | Now if I could just find two more players... I'd give you some of mine if I could. I have 7 right now and an observer! My old players came flocking back when they heard about Dark Sun! |
#7GrummoreOct 07, 2005 21:56:16 | Ah man, why dont you live closer? hum? I could, for a looooong time, be a darksun player... Always been DM for age! I started a new campaign 2 months ago and right now I could use 1 or 2 more PCs in my game. I only have 3 players: Kassius the mul, 4 level fighter Alrik the human, psion telep 3 / Preserver 2 Helwind the half-elf, rogue 2 / psychic warrior 3 No cleric! Muhahaha. They really have to use their brain. |
#8kalthandrixOct 07, 2005 22:42:24 | :D No cleric! Muhahaha. They really have to use their brain. I see that brain sharing is becoming very popular :D Just having some fun! |

According to WotC, Greyhawk is published. That's the "default" setting for the D&D 3/3.5e books. |
#10ruhl-than_sageOct 08, 2005 6:29:55 | Would any of you even want to be involved in a living campaign setting. From what I hear they aren't really very alive, it just following moldules to the letter with a bunch of people you don't know very well. You're not able to have any significant impact on the world and the person who runs the game doesn't give a crap about your characters personality, goals, or discissions. I don't know, maybe a DS living campiagn would be better, but from all I've seen and heard of the living Greyhawk one they really blow! |
#11nytcrawlrOct 08, 2005 7:52:45 | After what they showed us in the Dragon and Dungeon magazines, I really hope wizard does NOT release 3.5 Dark Sun stuff... Ahmen and pass the pretzels... |
#12the_peacebringerOct 11, 2005 12:54:58 | Ah man, why dont you live closer? hum? I could, for a looooong time, be a darksun player... Always been DM for age! I know! I know! [really excited by the idea] Why don't you move closer? :P |
#13master_ivanOct 11, 2005 15:17:46 | nope, its been irritating me for a long time now, 1 hard cover thats all i want just one hard cover! it's just so unfair :D Yeah, it's been so long since the last release. Is there any date or deadline on the first official release?? I'm dying here! |
#14dunselOct 13, 2005 15:38:01 | I know! I know! [really excited by the idea] Why don't you move closer? :P Perhaps we could meet halfway and have a DS convention?! :D Let's see, how about Michigan? |
#15kalthandrixOct 13, 2005 17:43:35 | Let's see, how about Michigan? I live in Michigan :D and I have my group over tomarrow to play! Haha to all you poor suckers without groups :P |
#16GrummoreOct 13, 2005 18:52:27 | I know! I know! [really excited by the idea] Why don't you move closer? :P Well friend, if you find a way to move 22 horses, 3 cows, 2 dogs, aquarium, a lots of cats, a stable, a house and of course, my huge garage, I would gladly move! Are you easier to move? :D |
#17kalthandrixOct 13, 2005 19:31:13 | Well friend, if you find a way to move 22 horses, 3 cows, 2 dogs, aquarium, a lots of cats, a stable, a house and of course, my huge garage, I would gladly move! What do you need to move that one gun and a box of ammo wouldn't take care of- JUST KIDDING BTW |
#18lyricOct 13, 2005 20:21:58 | What do you need to move that one gun and a box of ammo wouldn't take care of- JUST KIDDING BTW that's hilarious hats off to ya kal good one |
#19zombiegleemaxOct 14, 2005 3:49:17 | Maybe it is an advantage for the DS board not having published 3/3.5 Darksun material. It means that people come to this board to discuss conversions and ideas becouse they can't find them in books. It also makes Dark Sun 3/3.5 a world at least partially created by fans for Fans. |
#20murkafOct 14, 2005 8:17:21 | Well friend, if you find a way to move 22 horses, 3 cows, 2 dogs, aquarium, a lots of cats, a stable, a house and of course, my huge garage, I would gladly move! 1- strap the cats to the horses. 2- strap the fish to the cows. 3- attach the aquarium to the dogs. 4- rent the house with stable and garage to hippies: they could do some kind of Woodstock du Bas-du-Fleuv (ché pas si tu va'm'crèire). 5- stampede your horses and your cows to wherever you need to move. mmmmmmm... horses and cows......... |
#21sekerOct 14, 2005 8:49:17 | I agree, we have the most active community that is actually working on the stuff. I used to post alot on the dragonlance boards a long time ago.... but it really got to the point where there were no real new ideas over there. Although our community is still working hard both in Athas.org and outside. And a Living Athas campaign setting would be alot more realistic than a living Greyhawk... as after all just surviving a module in darksun is a win..... not like in other campaigns. Oh btw the d20 version I have been working on, is becoming a whole fragging new alternate players handbook. I just updated the thread on it about the magic system for those interested. |
#22dunselOct 14, 2005 9:17:58 | I live in Michigan :D and I have my group over tomarrow to play! Haha to all you poor suckers without groups :P I'll be right there! What's the address? ;) |
#23the_peacebringerOct 14, 2005 10:19:09 | Well friend, if you find a way to move 22 horses, 3 cows, 2 dogs, aquarium, a lots of cats, a stable, a house and of course, my huge garage, I would gladly move! A mekillot-pulled wagon ought to do it. I for one would have to move the whole Ecology department... too much paper work, sorry. |
