I plan on useing the grievous injuries system from Black Company for my new campaigne.

Speaking of alternate systems I just started playing in an Iron Heros Campaigne (puplished by Malhavoc Press) sofar I like the system, and just found out that some one on their forum is working on a DS conversion for it. (link removed cause it was broke or something)

This is my first post been reading for some time finaly decided to jump into the fray. A 3.5 Ds is what got me to buy any 3.5 books. So I'm still muckin through the sys.

Nice to 'see' from fresh meat.. I mean faces on the boards :P

I personally have not used any of the third party material, unless you count the DS3 stuff from Athas.org, so I have nothing to offer on insight into how other systems work with this setting.

Iron Heroes is a variant player's handbook (à la Arcana Evolved, also by Malhavoc Press).
Monte describes it as such: "With Iron Heroes, we're presenting a whole different set of modifications to the standard d20 System rules that we didn't cover in our previous variant. Iron Heroes assumes that characters do not rely on magic but instead on their own unique class abilities, skills, traits, and feats. In Iron Heroes, characters can't fall back on typical fantasy gaming tricks, and this fact has a profound effect on the feel of the game."
...and...
"The combat system holds the heart of Iron Heroes' modifications to the core rules. It emphasizes maneuver, inventive attacks, and tactics rather than static lines of battle. The innovative stunt system encourages characters to accomplish heroic and imaginative attacks. The standard skills have all-new combat uses. Modifications to the rules for attacks of opportunity and threatened areas emphasize outmaneuvering foes. And the exciting new fighting style feat categories allow characters to be vivid and distinct on the battlefield."
The book offers new monsters (without magic) and the How to convert other magic-using monsters into non-magical, Iron Heroes monsters.
About magic, Monte says:
"Iron Heroes presents a world where magic is too dangerous and unpredictable to rely upon. Characters in this system do not need magic to become powerful. The Iron Heroes classes are all balanced to work without lots of magic items and magical abilities. The game does include powerful wielders of magic, but magic is an unstable and dangerous force in the world. It remains mostly in the hands of the arcanist character class, as well as many of the monsters and villains the characters come up against."

I haven't tried it but look forward to it.

I looked at Bedlamb's link, which leads to a Word doc, and I'm impressed with the work. I don't know how much of it is taken verbatim from Iron Heroes (and the fluff and races section are lifted right off DS3), but nonetheless its impressive.

I dunno. On initial glance it didn't seem all that fitting, but maybe I need to take another gander at it.

Ah, there was a space between the 6 and the 4 in the link, no wonder.

Sounds like a book worthy of my money.

This is exactly the kind of system I have been looking for when it comes to Dark Sun.

Will definately have to take a gander.
