#1zombiegleemaxOct 24, 2005 19:46:41 | Looking at the abilites of the Star of Badna I noticed that it has a ability twice per day of Mage's Disjunction. Am I wrong on this name of this spell? I seem to cant find it anywhere in the Player's Handbook. The only one that comes close is a 9th lvl Wizard/Sorcerer spell called Mordenkainen's Disjunction. That sounds like the listed power of the Star but I just want to double check. Thats a crazy power btw...and twice per day??? Plus a Spell turning...twice per day??? :O -Introneurotic |

#3squidfur-Oct 24, 2005 19:59:11 | I'm going to go w/ the assumption that these two spells are one and the same, but as Mordenkainen has had no way to "share" his spells with the wizards of athas it is given a more generic name. This was done in 2nd edition as well (in Preservers and Defilers). For those spells that had the name of an other-worldly wizard in it's name (ie Otiluk, Tenser, etc) it was simply removed. So, for example Tenser's floating disc on Athas, was simply floating disc. |

#6kalthandrixOct 24, 2005 20:47:06 | No Sysane is quite sane (love the pun), at least as far as this example- but I am not a mental healthcare profesional :D . It is listed as Mages Disjunction in the SRD- all named spells are like that (tiny hut, hidious laughter, transformation). It makes them 'generalized' instead of world/setting specific- Mordenkainen does not exist on Athas so why would there be a spell named after him? |

#8jon_oracle_of_athasOct 25, 2005 2:18:59 | Sysane's explanation is correct, while it conveniently fits with Squidfur's reference to AD&D 2E Dark Sun's naming scheme. |
