I know this may seem like an off the subject topic, but a trip to my local hobby store and the purchase of a d20 kinda brought back some good memories.

Does anyone remember the d20's of the late 80's ? The ones that what ever number was on top, i.e. 10.... it's counterpart would be on the opposite side ( 20 ). Say you rolled a 7, upon picking the die up the 17 would be on the opposite side of the dice.

What I am wondering is this....... why was that style done away with and are there any either still in production or can be purchased somewhere ?

Thanks for any and all input in advance

Not sure the reason, but I've always understood that official dice seem to fit this format.....

The opposite sides should add up to the dice number +1. So for example the opposite sides on a D20 should add up to 21. So the opposite side of 7 should be a 14, 20 - 1, 19-2, 18-3, ect. This is the case for all dice excpet d4's. Not sure of their situation.
