#2old_sageNov 05, 2005 20:07:30 | This reminds me of those I ideas a posted here a couple of years back about a city built on the back of the largest kindori the multiverse had ever seen. As for the planet with a helm idea... You must remember that most helms have a limitation of how large or small a mass they can safely propel. Thus, the size of the actual "ship" is severly limited. Some of the largest objects to carry helms, asteroids for example, drift rather than actually propel forwards, so they are not as mobile as some of the more agile and smaller craft that have helms attached. The dragon with a spelljamming helm is interesting... The notion of a modified lifejammer springs to mind. The helm, instead of draining the life energy of the person sitting inside it for power, instead draws upon the life energy reserves of the creature it is *attached* to... in this case, being the dragon. |

Sure, if you could find a helm that powerful. They simply don't exist in the rules as stated, so you'd either have to bend existing rules or create a new helm. Note that mucking around with the cosmos like that would likely draw the attention of the gods, and they don't particularly like their cosmos being mucked with. As far as spelljamming dragons, sure, they could do that in theory (more likely the arcane/mercane would sell them a specialized helm), but really, the better way to go around is via polymorph and blend into a crew. The reason is that since space is so big, flying around on your own is pretty risky, even for a dragon. They have to eat and breathe like the rest of us, and being caught between planets with your air running out is not something they'd want to risk. Dragons specialized for space don't run that risk, so they can travel freely without aid of helm or fear of running out of air. |
