#1vedicdragonNov 08, 2005 11:04:59 | Hi all, I am not the Mystara buff I could be, but I did absolutely adore the Savage Coast. Recently, Eberron's Dragonmark houses slapped me across the face and I said to myself "Inheritors from Red Steel! Philistines and Plagiarists!" That being said, does anyone have adapted race stats for the various and multitude bloodlines of Lupin and Rakasta? Shadow Elves? Etc? And has anyone got any ideas on incorporating Mystara and the Hollow World INTO Planescape? Many thanks. |

As for different stats on the bloodlines/subraces of the Lupins and Rakasta, I did some looking through of those some time ago, and came up with a few ideas, that I'll try and dig up for posting later. For now, though, I'd just suggest that most (if not all) of the abilities of those could be emulated using feats. For various reasons, I am not a big fan of subraces myself, and so (while I loved the article at the time, and would certainly cannibalize aspects of it for my campaigns), I'd avoid having new abilities/adjustments/stats for any "subraces" and keep them largely descriptive "flavor" text, with (as noted above) some special "ethnic" feats to emulate some of the more unique abilities. Certain "subraces" would have to have different stats- a couple of the Ochalean lupins come to mind, as they are "short" races, and would have at a minimum differences for height accomodation. Again, I'll dig out that issue (on lupins) later tonight and see if I can post some thoughts on the matter further. |

#5agathoklesNov 12, 2005 13:55:51 | And has anyone got any ideas on incorporating Mystara and the Hollow World INTO Planescape? There are a few problems (specifically, with the oppositions between elements and the nature of the Outer Planes), but nothing that can't be solved by the usual approach -- i.e., the clueless primes have a somewhat skewed view of the Inner & Outer Planes, so what for a Mystaran is a Plane is actually a power's Realm, etc. All in all, it's not anymore different than using Planescape with the Dragonlance setting, e.g., except maybe the fact that Mystarans are quite aware of the planes, so they should be less green than most primes. That said, Mystara is a setting that has several themes in common with Planescape, and specifically with some of the Factions -- just a few examples: 1) Immortals would be of great interest for the Believers of the Source and the Athar (they are closely related to their interpretation of the mulltiverse). 2) The Doomguard have much in common with the Entropic Immortals (much more than, say, with the AD&D Abyssal Lords). 3) The Chaos vs. Law struggle, which is emphasized in Planescape, is also important in Mystara (e.g., the Friends of Freedom and the Lawful Brotherhood) |
