This is determined during the Test of High Sorcery - part of the test should be a test of morals, which determines the character's alignment and thus their robe color. From this point of view, the Test of High Sorcery is a big alignment test. If your elf completes the Test in a morally neutral fashion, he (she?) should be granted the Red Robes upon its completion. If your GM determines your character acted in an overall evil manner (or good manner) during the Test, you would be handed the appropriate robes and should change your character's written alignment. |

#4cam_banksNov 22, 2005 17:17:36 | Can it test all aspects of Alignments? Lawful and Chaotic too? The Test won't change your alignment. In Dragonlance, however, the way you act should determine your alignment, not the other way around. If you're a LG character behaving like a CE character, you're going to end up as a CE character. Cheers, Cam |

In addition to what Cam just said, you might also try picking up Towers of High Sorcery. It provides some good points on how to run your wizard with regard to their alignments/robe colour. |
#6zombiegleemaxNov 23, 2005 7:47:37 | if your elf takes any o ther color than white robes he will be a dark elf |
#7zombiegleemaxNov 28, 2005 6:51:44 | if you decide to just don't do the test (and if you are and elf and use the races of the wild option rules of substitution lvls it can be really good) you will be a dark elf too. And you'll be hunted by the high-sorcery bloodhounds. And the solamnic knights will think you is "darker than the darkest black robes". It's funny. |
#8zombiegleemaxDec 06, 2005 11:06:34 | The racial subsitution levels for the mage are great for Dragonlance arent they? What would you do with all of the bow feats however? |
#9zombiegleemaxDec 06, 2005 11:14:01 | The elves have different kinds of substitution levels. One is for ranger characters and the other for wizard. In the wizard`s module, you don`t gain bow feats. But even if you gain, some of them can be used in ray spells. |
#10zombiegleemaxDec 06, 2005 11:17:22 | I was under the impression that tht 5th level subsitution level gave you a bow rather than an item creation or metamagic feat. |

I'll look into it the next time I'm either at a bookstore or a hobby store. :D BTW, thanks for the belated birthday present since I didn't get a chance to catch up on this topic until today. |
