#1zombiegleemaxDec 13, 2005 14:18:02 | How much of Sandstorm could be dropped in Athas without causing too much grief theme wise. I can see some of the monster fitting in rather well as the feats, most of them in any case although maybe not some of the equipment. |
#2KamelionDec 13, 2005 17:56:59 | I use the environment rules (weather, dehydration, dessication, etc) and most of the terrains. I also make use of the feats and spells and some of the monsters (giant cactal treants!) The locations are less easy to import but they can be adapted with a little work. More for its crunch than its fluff, Sandstorm has become something of an additional core book for my DS games, alongside the XPH (which also sees a lot of use). |

I think Blazing Berserker needs a another prerequisite, like: Fire Genasi or Fire,Magma, or Sun Cleric 1st. I don't think it should be available to just any barbarian. Then again, you could just make it a 1st level only feat and add the flavor that it means you have some elemental blood in you. The weapons seem fine to me, their are a lot of exotic arena weapons, why not some more. Anyway, most of the book is useable with minor adjustments, at least in terms of rules. |

I don't plan on using any of its character races and I find the PrC mostly unfitting to the setting. |

#6ZardnaarJan 11, 2006 1:04:09 | Worth buying the book for an Athasian game? I've had a quick glimpse at it but wasn't to impressed. |
#7the_peacebringerFeb 23, 2006 12:25:47 | Question on the rules from Sandstorm: Would it be safe to assume that thri-kreen would be considered desert creatures and would have a protection level from heat of 2? As for elves, could it be considered as they would have level 1 protection since they are... elves? Is Athas a hotter desert planet than in other worlds or can we assume its just about the same; Hot band temperatures during the highest sun of the day (without other factors like wind, altitude, etc) and Cold band temperatures during the night or is it hotter than this; severe heat and higher? |
#8ruhl-than_sageFeb 23, 2006 18:09:15 | I would agree on Thri-Kreen having a heat resistance rating of 2 and elves a heat resistance rating of 1. If you want to move everything up one step, it would be in fitting, but all the races should be slightly more adapted to the heat in that case, so it would just negate. Increase the temperature ranges for each of the bands, but don't change the rules.... |
