#1zombiegleemaxDec 13, 2005 17:34:22 | Dear Boards: I bought the Book of Exalted Deeds a while back and read the descriptions of the LG, NG ,and CG celestial paragons therein. O.K, cool. I bought the Book of Vile Darkness just a week ago, and read the descriptions of the LE and CE Demon Lords and Archdevils therein. Wait a minute, why are there no NE uberfiends?! I was annoyed that the yugoloths were relegated to being scattered from this MM to that MM instead of being treated as equal to the devil and demons. Luckily, using this board I was able to find a great list of converted yugoloths. I was wondering if the board had some homebrew or converted NE Archfiends so that the NE Archfiend baddies would be brought up to par. Has anyone done this? Would you share them with me? I was hoping for 5-9 of them since there are 9 Lords of Hell and 5 Demon Lords in the BVD. Raymond_Luxury_Yacht suggested that I look on this board for assistance. -Tony |
#2ripvanwormerDec 13, 2005 18:01:21 | Someone is working on giving them 3.5 stats as we speak, though I can't say when they'll be done. Anyway, here are some threads describing them: Ebollix Anthraxus Others |
#3Shemeska_the_MarauderDec 13, 2005 19:02:39 | I had a number of them, but only in some very rare circumstances did I ever apply stats to them. I gave stats to the Altraloth, Taba, though it after they had been largely stripped of their powers by the Oinoloth, due to some considerable upheaval among the ranks of the 'loths in my campaign. It was somewhere in the low 30's for CR, but I don't honestly recall much of the details I'd put in his/her/its stats. I also gave stats to a minor 'loth archfiend known as Shylara the Manged, or rather, a planar projection of hers. That was pegged at a CR 28 IIRC. I gave stats to one of the unique Baernaloths in my campaign, Methikus sar Telmuril the Flesh Sculptor, and I don't even want to guess at the CR. Suffice to say it nearly caused a TPK, and as presented, it was watered down severely since it was about as far seperated from the Gray Waste as possible. I just generally don't like having direct confrontations with archfiends, because it's inherently lethal, among other reasons, and so I never gave stats to many of them, though I ended up using most all of the unique 'loths during the course of that game. |
#4ripvanwormerDec 22, 2005 19:58:26 | Someone is working on giving them 3.5 stats as we speak, though I can't say when they'll be done. Ah, Tebryn is starting them. He's already finished Taba. |
#5cat_godDec 27, 2005 18:18:42 | How about the stats for the Arcanaloths? Shemeska seems cool, but I have the Fiend Folio, and the yuogloths in that are ugly (please don't kill me, Shemeska!) and was wondering what they looked like. I figure they look like dog people (Like in your avatar, Shemeska, or in the Artist's alley in Planeswalker.) but I'm not certain. |
#6ripvanwormerDec 27, 2005 19:22:59 | Arcanaloths are in the MMII. Here is the illustration in the MMII. The arcanaloth is the one on the left, in yellow. There's another arcanaloth on the cover of Uncaged: Faces of Sigil. The one with the fox head is Shemeshka the Marauder. This is A'kin, the friendly arcanaloth: |
#7Shemeska_the_MarauderDec 27, 2005 20:37:12 | And here's another picture, from 'Hellbound: The Blood War', the jackal-headed ones, with an Ultroloth above them, and a Balor and Pit Fiend puppet ;) |
#8weenieDec 28, 2005 2:55:49 | ... or you can just go to this thread, see the pics, and publicly state that A'Kin is an infinitely classier dresser then that other puppyloth. You know, the overrated one, the Queen of Crossdress? The one that doesn't know her Hellbound from her Faces of Evil? Go ahead, it doesn't bite. |
#9cat_godDec 28, 2005 22:18:08 | publicly state that A'Kin is an infinitely classier dresser then that other puppyloth. You know, the overrated one, the Queen of Crossdress? The one that doesn't know her Hellbound from her Faces of Evil? SACRILIGE! She'll probably smite you now. I'm cowering in the corner hoping she passes me over. Thanks. Even more reason to get the MMII. I thought the only reason I would get it was for the Death Knights. |
#10bob_the_efreetJan 02, 2006 3:18:36 | This is A'kin, the friendly arcanaloth: Oh my god! That's an A'kin mini! Was there a Planescape line of miniatures released, or is that tailored from something else? |
#11Shemeska_the_MarauderJan 02, 2006 4:43:39 | Oh my god! That's an A'kin mini! Yep, Ral Partha did a line of PS minis. You can still find them on Ebay, which was where I got mine from. |
#12ripvanwormerJan 02, 2006 12:08:20 | Here's Shemeshka the Marauder and her sidekick Colcook in miniature form: |
#13cat_godJan 05, 2006 21:22:45 | What do you think of the creature catalog Arcanaloth? Is that good, or did I waste time by waiting for the PDF to load and save it? |
#14cat_godJan 12, 2006 20:46:44 | Shemeska? Someone? |
#15ripvanwormerJan 12, 2006 23:37:07 | What do you think of the creature catalog Arcanaloth? Is that good, or did I waste time by waiting for the PDF to load and save it? You mean this one? The main problem with it is that it has so few hit dice compared to the 3.5 edition fiends, and only casts at 12th level - kind of sad for the second most powerful yugoloth caste. Also, the fact that it's a sorcerer means it isn't as scholarly and bookish as arcanaloths ought to be - arcanaloths should function as wizards instead. A major plotline in one of the Ravenloft adventures is an arcanaloth trying to find its lost book. DiceFreaks links have become a cliche on these boards, but this looks promising. |
#16Shemeska_the_MarauderJan 12, 2006 23:38:11 | Shemeska? Someone? To be honest I'm not all that familiar with that the CC version, and I've generally just used (a variation of) the 3e MM2 version. |
#17thanaelJan 15, 2006 14:35:31 | You may also want to check out Kain Darkwind's Alternate Cosmic Entities thread on the Dicefreaks boards. He does his own variants of the BoVD, BoED, and Yugoloth Lords. While they are built with the BoVD stats as inspiration they are a bit more powerful than the original BoVD and BoED ones but still not as high-level as Dicefreaks usual fare. Anyways read the thread and judge for yourself... Of course Dicefreaks has more reworked material on Yugoloths: Fiends from the lowest Planes |
#18thanaelJan 15, 2006 15:29:28 | Oh my god! That's an A'kin mini! Here's a listing of all the Planescape Line Minis from Ral Partha. There are also several nice D&D Demons and Demon Lord minis by Reaper Miniatures, including Belial, Mephisto, Yeenoghu (Manganaw), Demogorgon (Demonic Lasher), Orcus, a Pit Fiend, some Greater Yugoloths (Boar Demon), a Vrock (Vulture Demon), a Marilith, Glabrezu etc.. And here's a list with the Partha minis I can get you, in case you don't find them all on ebay. Send me PM or email if you need anything from this list. |
#19ripvanwormerJan 15, 2006 16:26:25 | some Greater Yugoloths (Boar Demon) The boar demon is either a lesser guardian yugoloth or a nalfeshnee. I do see a marraenoloth, though. I suppose this could be an arcanaloth, but everyone's going to be all, "That's obviously Anubis!" |
#20cat_godJan 15, 2006 19:09:59 | You mean this one? Yes, indeed I do mean that one. Thanks! |
#21zombiegleemaxJan 16, 2006 2:55:59 | Puppyloth...classic :D Now while I'm getting the tank... If I could direct you to the 2nd Dragon annual, it has an article on Altraloths... I'll check to see if the Wikipedia can help. Which reminds me: O ye mighties of PS fluff! Get over to teh Wikipedia and start expanding the articles there! |
