#2thanaelDec 18, 2005 14:10:44 | Yup, there sure is. The Runes of the Dwur(RD): http://hem.passagen.se/warlich/Greyhawk/World/the_world__greyhawk.html ->click on Dwarves Runes and Migrations and here: http://billg350.tripod.com/races_of_greyhawk.htm There`s some great fan made material on the Dwur in GH tying in the Axe of dwarvish lords into the history of the Flanaess. I believe most of it is in french though. Will check my harddrive and if it`s still out there on the web.. I found "Personnages Dwur" and "Les clans de Dwur" (detailed compilation and extrapolation on Dwur history) on my HD. Both by Laurent Debelle and Stéphane Tanguay (Les Faconniers) . I even found a half complete attempted translation into english of Les Clans Dwur. French versions available here: http://perso.netultra.net/ggf/biblio.htm |
#3valharicDec 19, 2005 11:12:48 | I looked at your links but didn't see any calander desriptions, but saw historical timelines. Maybe I missed something or maybe you misunderstood me. What I'm looking for is what the dwarves call the days of the week and months of the year. |

First, you could just assume that dwarves use the same names that non-nomadic humans do (Fireseek, Readying, and so on). Living underground, they might not notice the seasons and the zodiac as much as humans do, so they might not have bothered to come up with their own names. You could steal the dwarven months from the Dwarves of Rockhome gazetteer. The advantage is that they're pretty good names, and there are twelve of them. The disadvantage is that there's something of a hand-me-down, used goods feel about stealing names from other campaign settings. Wharlin Still another option would be to use the names of the dwarven gods. Like this, for example: Fireseek = Moradin Readying = Berronar Coldeven = Ulaa Planting = Abbathor Flocktime = Clangeddin Wealsun = Gendwar Argrim Reaping = Gorm Gulthryn Goodmonth = Haela Brightaxe Harvester = Muamman Duathal Patchwall = Sharindlar Ready'reat = Vergadain Sunsebb = Fortubo ..or whatever. Dwarves might use the same days of the week as humans, they might use the Mystaran days of the week that I quoted above, or they might just have slight alterations. For example, instead of naming days after the sun, moon, and the stars, they might have Stoneday, Oreday, Forgeday, Godsday, Waterday, Earthday, and Fireday. I don't see why their names for the festivals would be different, as those are the same in the common, elven, and nomadic calendars. |
