#1zombiegleemaxDec 23, 2005 16:25:05 | Halflings of the Blue Age had many life-shaped marvels. everything from clothing, to tools, to transportation, to weapons and more was a living construct shaped from a porous, coral-like stone. one of the more widely used life-shapes of their time, the Underwater Harvester was a symbiotic creature that would absorb the operator into its octopoidal body. the operator would then share the senses of the creature, seeing with it's four peripheral eyes and feeling/grasping with its four prehensile tentacles. the symbiote is not without its protections, four retractable harpoon-like organs set just beneath its body. the rider, or the symbiote, would use these as protection against the underwater predators of the time. the harvester would allow its operator to breathe underwater and was used primarily, as its name implies, for harvesting the white porous stone as well as mollusks, fish and other aquatic life for food. being a symbiotic lifeform, the harvester could live and thrive as a singular organism when not in use and usually fed off the plankton, shrimp and other small organisms of the sea. |
#2kalthandrixDec 23, 2005 16:47:04 | Looks cool- kind of made me think of the harvester machined in the Matrix. I bet you that this picture is as cool as the spell form you are doing for me- but I guess no one else will know that due to it not being out yet :D . Sarcasm for the holidays- sorry I could not help myself. |
#3zombiegleemaxDec 23, 2005 16:48:36 | some would never conceive of a world covered in water like the Athas of the Blue Age; but long ago the sun shined a bright blue over vast oceans of water. land masses were limited to island chains and archipelago, with only a handful of larger landforms. it was here that the halfling nature-masters lived and thrived with their power over life... #8zombiegleemaxDec 23, 2005 18:35:37 | all along the scattered villages and towns of the great chain, the halflings use wave striders as a mode of transportation from one isle to another. these massive, four-legged, crustaceans aren't so much a life-shaped creation as they are an augmented natural life-form. the largest of the species can wade in up to 50' of water and support several thousand pounds upon its wide carapace. some villages use them as fishing platforms as well. the animal is guided by tapping it's eyestalks. |
