#1ZardnaarDec 29, 2005 2:54:09 | This is just a draft idea of a PrC I've been working on. It uses some vile feats from the Book of Vile Darkness as pre-requisites to reflect a darker path of magic. I think I may have read updated feats in some 3.5 book but can't remember which one so feel free to let me know. Disicple of Rajaat History/Goals Sacha of Arala was the first champion to complete his task in the cleansing war. While the other champions continued leading their armies on conquests of extermination Sacha envisioned a more subtle way of of dealing with Rajaats foes. He sponsered a group of dedicated defilers who served Rajaat as assassins and spies. Since Rajaat wasn't that interested in them in reality the Disicples were placed under Sachas control as a reward for his rapid cleansing. Sacha used them as a hidden knife. Rajaat however was betrayed and Sacha beheaded. The surviving Disciples retreated to a hidden Fortress near Celik where they continued to plot in Sachas absense. Soon after the end of the Cleansing War they tried to eliminate Kalid-Ma in Kalidnay who responded by destrying their order. One apprentice named Zeon survived however and retreated to a remote valley where the Disciples had buried their dead in elaborate tombs carved into the southern reaches of the ringing mountains. Zeon eventually became an undead spirit (use the ghost template Zeon 10 Defiler/10 DoR) and trained up a new order. Over the years the remaining Disciples have forgotton most of their old knowledge and often dedicate years towards goals the rest of Athas never even knows about. Typical missions include retrieving artifacts/magic items Rajaat crafted, finding Rajaats ancient lair near Thamasku, hoardind items from the Green Age, killing a Dragon, killing a Sorceror King, etc. Needless to say they haven't had much luck in most of their quests. The rest of Athas does however have reason to be thankful towards the Disciples. While their ultimate goal is to free Rajaat they have managed to eliminate several would be Dragons, 1 Dragon in the early stages of metamorphosis and they managed to manipulate Kalid-Ma's goal of becoming a fully transformed Dragon before Hamanu, Kalak and Borys destroyed him. All Dragons are abominations in their eyes. Shortly before the events in the Prism Pentad the DoR were once again all but destroyed by Borys the Dragon. Only Zeon and another apprentice survived this assault and were in no shape to assist Rajaats brief escape from the hollow. In the free year timeline they are currently looking for potential recruits and approach any promising defilers. #3ZardnaarDec 29, 2005 6:51:43 | Is there no arcane caster advancement (i.e. spells per day) for your PrC? There is. I just wrote it above the BAB. The PrC has full caster progression. You don't really need a table that says +1 arcane spellcaster level 10 times over. |
#4kalthandrixDec 29, 2005 7:09:40 | O - then I guess it is the rest of us and WotC who are all doing it wrong- silly me. |
#5nytcrawlrDec 29, 2005 7:18:27 | If you expect us to give you input and take you seriously, then don't be so lazy on the initial design. ;) |

#7kalthandrixDec 29, 2005 14:08:46 | I would like to say that I am not trying to make you angry with my comments or say that the idea you have is without merit- I think it would be interesting BUT it needs more- fluff, notes/better explainations for the abilities, ect... And it should always follow the 'normal' format and use the correct language for generic abilities- most of which can be found in the PrC Appendix I and the SRD. Following said format will draw more interest and make it easier to merge into individual campaigns. Of all the PrC's that I have made- not that there are that many- I have only had one come out close to the finished product on the first pass. Then there are others that, while not 100% right off, drew so much interest that others were willing to throw in their two cents and give me the desired feedback that made them (the PrC) a damn fine product. And there have been others that I have gotten almost zero feedback on, but I have soldiered on and put it out on the board anyway, chipping away at it until I am happy with the end result. :D |
#8nytcrawlrDec 29, 2005 14:30:57 | Yeah, some of us just are willing to waste our time to critique your work if you aren't willing to show a little pride in it. It's a cool idea so far and I am interested, but I'm not going to bother if you aren't going to at least show me you care enough to make it somewhat more readable and put into the proper format. |
#9ZardnaarDec 29, 2005 15:29:14 | I was short on time last night when I posted it. I'll errata it to flesh it out. |

#11ZardnaarDec 29, 2005 15:45:43 | How does one create a table? The BAB, saves and spells look good when I edit it but get jumbled togather once I hit the submit reply/edit button? |

People use the "CODE" tags in order to have preformatted text (the kind where white space characters are actually remembered and used). |
#13ZardnaarDec 29, 2005 16:31:29 | People use the "CODE" tags in order to have preformatted text (the kind where white space characters are actually remembered and used). Thanx I've got it looking mor or less right now (I think). |
#14ruhl-than_sageDec 29, 2005 17:44:58 | Hmmm... much much too powerful. All the abilities you have listed are fine, except for Spell Betrayal. You haven't really justified the ability in the description or prerequisites and it's defined too loosely. The way I'm reading it you could merely make yourself invisible and let loose area effect spell on a large group gaining the extra damage against all of them. On top of the shear power of this ability, it doesn't make any sense that an energy based area effect spell would be able to do precision based damage like a sneak attack. |
#15ZardnaarDec 29, 2005 18:04:15 | Hmmm... much much too powerful. Yeah I would agree. I liked the idea and borrowed it from a PrC in the Book of Vile Darkness. That PrC didn't have full caster levels though. Replace it with sneak attack or errata it that it only applies to weapon like spells (as per Complete Arcane). Or get rid of it totally. |
