Jan 01, 2006 1:57:37 IN the dungeon magazine that outlined the setting for the other dark sun campaign, under the part about the city of nibenay, it said that nibenay the monarch was being hounded by another dragon, sharabdos, who was attempting to overthrow the shadow king.

What you are describing looks a lot like the tale of Throkat, a dragon that opposed Andropinis more than a king's age ago. (The story is found on page 37 of DK.) Basically this Sharabdos would be a dragon trying to oppose or overthrow Nibenay. Such an attempt pretty much is doomed to failure from the get go, since all those thousands of years ensure that Nibenay has used more epic spells and wishes on himself than any other creature besides a fellow Champion, and that he has many more levels than a fledgling dragon could hope to acquire in the fraction of time it has existed, and possibly has acquired certain powerful templates (the first of these being the Champion template).

So to answer your question, yes this Sharabdos guy would be a normal defiler that survived long enough to get uber and transform into a dragon.

Jan 02, 2006 13:04:19 Actually, unless you've advanced the timeline in your own campaign, Sharabdos is not a dragon yet. He's listed as a powerful defiler who sometimes uses sections of the Crescent Forest near Nibenay for his spells. He wants to overthrow Nibenay and become a DK but isn't powerful enough, so strikes Nibenay's power structure when he can. Nibenay knows that there is a defiler with designs on the throne, but can't find him through magic or psionics.

Considering how Dungeon #110 is the only resource of information on him, everything else is left up to the creativity of the fans of the advanced timeline from Noonian and Paizo.
