He was supposed to be the greatest wizard in the world (at that time-and I believe Fisty was around back then too), so I would assume he was around 20th level total. What do you think? |
#2zombiegleemaxJan 04, 2006 17:56:31 | I wonder if he will be in the Knights sourcebook? |
#3cam_banksJan 04, 2006 20:49:11 | I wonder if he will be in the Knights sourcebook? Why, is he a knight? Seems unlikely. Cheers, Cam |
#4valharicJan 05, 2006 10:17:45 | Why, is he a knight? Seems unlikely. I think it was implied that since he was prevalent in the LoH story, that he might show up in that sourcebook. I would probably put Galen around level 20-21. It's been awhile since I've read LoH. But I've been thinking about bringing him back as a villan in my campaign. Some thoughts I've had include making him a Scion that went mad. Gonna need to reread the books, but I don't recall him being loyal to the WoHS, and that organization was a relatively new group at that point. So a Scion perspective is possible. |
#5zombiegleemaxJan 05, 2006 10:40:30 | Valharic, thanks for the response. I wish the others would have offered up their opinions. I don't think that Dracos will ever be put out there so I was just looking for some personal opinions on what he would be, and then if I ever decide to run a campaign with him (thinking about doing DL again...) I would have a better understanding of where he generally should lie with his build. Dracos was a renegade of the WoHS, but I don't think he should be a sorcerer. He created that Emerald Sphere artifact that was stealing power away from Takhisis unbeknownst to her until the end, and created a spell so powerful that he erased himself from everyones memory (which didn't completely work, at least not right away because he came back in Kaz, the Minotaur). I remember Dracos saying something about being born as a peasant in a poor village, and how amusing it was that the greatest wizard ever was born from such a humble background. |
#6zombiegleemaxJan 06, 2006 13:25:49 | I wouldnt put him higher than 21st becasue Fisty was supposed to be the most powerful wizard to have ever lives prior to Raistlin! |

That sphere was also drawing on the Chaos of the war, Galen in turn fed some of this to Tak so that she could appear in the world more powerful than usual (at least that is what i got from the book). Galen did siphon some off for his own personal use though (and had always planned to it seems). Also, he was from a poor village by the name of Istar if I'm not mistaken. |
#8lordthavianJan 22, 2006 12:53:34 | Galan Dracos should definately be epic and as we all know a Renegade to boot. It would have been nice if they included his stats in the Towers of High Sorcery sourcebook! |
#9DragonhelmJan 22, 2006 19:51:30 | Dracos was a renegade of the WoHS, but I don't think he should be a sorcerer. No, Dracos was most definitely a wizard, albeit a renegade one. I would say he would need some sort of template to account for his draconic appearance and that of his followers. Maybe a PrC that has some sort of physical transformation as well. I think, in order to do Galan Dracos right, you would need a new mechanic. |
#10ferratusJan 23, 2006 8:15:59 | Galan Dracos just seems to be a run of the mill green dragonspawn to me. Slap the proto-creature template on to him, and it seems to be finished. It seems to me the more necessary thing is to have a prestige class that allows a character (even non-spellcasters) to assume the traits of a dragonspawn over several levels. |
#11zombiegleemaxFeb 07, 2006 21:28:11 | I wonder if he will be in the Knights sourcebook? Why, is he a knight? Seems unlikely. Well, according to Sovereign Press's own advertisement for Knightly Orders he probably should be: (from dragonlance.com): This sourcebook contains game information for the d20 System, as well as the lore and traditions of knightly orders. New and revised class information are provided for the various knighthoods, as well as new feats and magical items. Details are provided for the first time on the histories of knightly orders, the rules of acceptance and conduct, their quests and trials, and deadly enemies who seek to undo them. |
