He gets step 1: the caress. I was thinking of giving him a feat (even though they may be a little powered) - Spell Mastery (but only Necromancy Spells he already knows, up to his Int Bonus), with the embarassing curse that his eyes turn black (even the whites) for the duration of the spell if he casts one of the spells he mastered, also nearest person to him makes a spot check (DC = 20-spell level) to notice a sulfuric smell. If he's careful, no one will notice the eyes...though the spell's target always does (he may be subject to sense motive checks for allies to notice he's avoiding eye contact). Is this too powered? He's 4th level, so most likely it'l be a cantrip, 2 level ones and maybe a level 2...and Disrupt Undead is certainly one of them. |

Advantage: free Spell Focus (Necromancy) feat Disadvantage: whenever he casts a Necromantic spell, his hands glow with a weird black aura through which anyone nearby (the wizard included) can see his hands. The catch is that they don't see flesh, only bones (in other words, skeletal hands). Kind of a localized X-ray vision. |

Or maybe his hands could be cold to the touch or be thin with long yellow nails. Perhaps he is bound to the item, the magic is tied to him. He can do more with it than a typical Hand of the Mage, but he becomes posessive of it. The Powers work through the item (which would also be cursed) to impact the mage. |

It was more about using necromancy to craft an item. I also feel that Spell Focus (Necro) is more useful than Spell Mastery, and hence a bit more powered (how often are wizards seperated from their spellbooks? well, as often as I want them to be, but still). But yes, some of these ideas will be cool to keep on file for later... |
