The answer seems to yes, at least the journal of Kevelli Mauk in 'Scarlet Brotherhood' hints at influence of visitors from south and west. The worries of 'tainting our flesh' seem to indicate mixing of ethnic groups at some level. However, are they all humans? For example, are the people of Niphon necessarily humans who look like asians? Could 'Erypt' actually be a home of Marruspawn civilisation (a race detailed in Sandstorm). Orcreich naturally seems to indicate an orcish nation, possibly LE in nature. Do you have any other ideas? S. |

I couldn't imagine them going about a "normal" daily life. That said, I could very well see them "haunting" the ruins of a once-mighty nation. I've been tempted to describe Erypt by using Green Ronin's Hamunaptra accessory. It does offer some possible links to the Twin Cataclysm. The opposite end of the continent (whose eastern tip is the Flanaess) is described in some details in the Chainmail accessory, so that's what I'm using. For the big "terra incognita" space in-between, I am still debating what to do. Orcreich is tempting, especially to someone with access to the old Broken Land (Known World/Mystara) accessory, but I've also thought about Aquaria and a few others locations that feel "different" enough to actually elicit the interest from jaded players (Spirosblaak for instance). |

Yes there likely are human civilisations in the West - the biggie being the Celestial Imperium of Sufhang (I'd see them as being asiatic; "Nippon" (which I call Kalaraj) and Zahind ("Zindia") are likely to have darker skinned people (given their latitude and the references in the Greyhawk Adeventures hardcover to a darkskinned people dwelling on the southern reaches on the Sea of Dust. On an expedition to the far west, the players also encountered the Zampoans (Aztec-Mayan ethnicity) and the Zubu (African ethnicity). |
