#1OninotakiJan 18, 2006 18:51:18 | Ok I would like to see two seperate Prc for these 2 materials that are so important to darksun in their own unique way. The Obsidian Smith could be someone who psionicly fortifies this material that is not normaly very suited to being the primary component of weapons. The Dwarven Steel Smith might be someone who maintains the knowledge of steel smithing and any iron and steel weapons he encounters. Any way I just have some basic ideas and I would like to get help developing these 2 classes from the rest of the boards. Obsidian Smith(possible name) Requirments: Craft Weapon Smithing 8 ranks, Ability to manifest 1 Metacreativity power? 3 level Prc? HD: D6? Skill Points: 4+? Bab:3/4? Saves: Strong Fort, weak Ref, Strong Wil ? Powers and Abilities: +1 manifester level every level after 1st? Craft psionic Arms and armor feat for free at level 1? Dwarven Steel Smith(possible name) Requirments: Dwarven blood Knowledge Ancient History 5 ranks? Craft Weapon or Armor Smithing 8 ranks? Metal Smith feat 3 level prc? HD:d8? Skill points:4+? Bab:3/4? Saves: Strong Fort, weak Ref, Strong Will Power and abilities: ? Ok folks thats all I got, what do you guys have? Oh and I dont know how to format this all into a table. |

Theres a feat that dwarves and Tyrians have that can get around the -5 that all craft checks involving metal require on Athas. I don't think metal is commen enough for a PrC like this to develop. A highly skilled metalsmith is probably a pet of one of the Sorceror Kings and even then may only handle a dozen metal items in their life. I would think that alot of their training would be heavy on the theory as they wouldn't want to screw it up in practice. A forge wouldn't be readily available either. The best athasian metalsmith is probably on par with a normal worlds average professional. Exceptions would exist of course (PCs?) |

Zardnaar is right, there isn't much need for a metalsmith PrC when metal on Athas is pretty scarce, so scarce that the people in charge horde what little they do find and only allow to be used for their own purposes. |

What puyrpose would such a PrC achieve. Would it appeal to players. Is it to broken? The requirements are easy though. 8 ranks or so in a craft skill and skill focus. DHow do you envision such a PrC working. Do they craft faster/cheaper or can they imbue the obsidian with magic/psionics? |
