Hey guys,

While looking over my Berserk! manga, it occured to me that its an interesting idea of playing a "Black" knight. A knight whom has been cast out of the order and is viewed as forsworn.

The inspiration of Sir Jaymes from the Lord of the Rose to a large extent. It's different for Sturm whom keeps his nobility and honor throughout his false accusation. Instead, there's something to be said for a Knight whom feels hidiously wronged for what happened to him and the polish is worn off.

Basically, assuming a nasty enough crime for exile (but not necessarily execution) I was curious how to possibly portray the middle ground between crimminal fugitive and knight.

Any suggestions?

Something curious happened with my gaming group... they're becoming evil...well, sort of.

Truth is most of them are newbies and became fascinated with the sneak attack abilty, and r trying to qualify for a PrC with sneak attack like abilities. Two of them are solamnics, so what i've planned for them might work for u.

One of them is a noble/fighter already with the Crown Knight PR, he will be banned from the orders for cowardice (believe me, he is a real chicken) and for helping traitor nobles to murder Lord Michael Jeoffrey. He will have the option to become a Rogue Knight, he might never atone for this, but at least his PC will e more interesting.

The other one is a 3rd lvl fighter, a theiwar savant will (hopefully) corrupt him in order to become a blackward. (Knights of Neraka are not formed yet, but if timing is correct he will be a founding member since they are interacting with the Medan and Abrena families)

The difference between them is that first will be ashamed while the second will be proud for his "achievements". Which one siuts your caharacter better?

Thanks for the information,

I think the character himself has a basic core of human decency and a strong sense of loss over his "honor" but there's also a lot of anger that's waging against his former feelings. The character himself is probably best now likened to Dhamon Grimwulf in the fact that he certainly is in no shape at present to be reinducted into the knighthood even if tomorrow he successfully proved his own innocence. It's an interesting idea I think to play a character that only grudgingly and when push comes to shove reveals himself to still be a hero of the knighthood.

In which case it'll be interesting to see what sort of stories can be designed to test him to whether or not he can rise above his current situation and embrace redemption or whether or not he'll always be walking a lone path as an outcast knight.

Check out the Rogue Knight PrC from Age of Mortals (not just for the game info, which is very atractive btw), the role information provided for it migt help u since it is described as a knight (either solamnic or nerekese) who lost his honor.

By the way, Dhamon is a 9th lvl Rogue Knight.

Sounds spiffy I think.

The current story arc is going to include the fact that the Rogue Knight is a great believer in the "Old Measure" and measures his lost honor by the fact that he doesn't live up to it. Part of the irony is that all of the Knights follow the "new measure" though and the fact is that many of them are certainly less honorable than he.

the first thing I thought of was someone giving up the knighthood to become a mercanary
