#1sekerFeb 05, 2006 19:08:13 | Heya all, long time no talk. I was wanting to get the feedback on the playtest I sent out to a bunch of people on the board for the first part of my d20 modern adaptation of the dark sun system. After I get feedback on how well this worked out, I will be getting the second playtest together for everyone...... the part that has the epic rules, item and spell creation rules, more advanced classes and prestige classes, the works. I just needed to find out how everyone felt the core part of the system worked to be able to define the rest of it. looking forward to hearing from you all. Seker |
#2kalthandrixFeb 05, 2006 19:41:40 | Well let me start I guess. I got nothing for ya! I read over the material and I have to admit that there was quite a bit I did not follow at first as I have no background with d20 modern or other non-core D&D systems. But I do like it and I have spent a bit of time reading the other d20 books when I go to my local store (I did not buy them, just read parts in the store (:embarrass ) and your system made a lot of sense. Overall I would have to say that I would love to see more and actually sit down and play it. Sorry for the lack of any critical comments- I have made my limit for the day and have to wait 8 hours until I can cast some more |

D20 modern i believe is a much better way to go then something other than traditional dnd. I've been looking over the starwars seemse which i see similarities between...and plainly...i like it. I would have to say that a system for developing defense is awesome. I was using the unearthed arcana variant before which included levels as a spellcaster which made multiclassing seem a little bit better then before, but i love the modern approach and i was going to devote myself to the cause one day or another...but stumbling upon this...i would have to agree. Suggestions: i would have to say that the increases in speed for elves should be MUCH higher...and i do agree completely with the d20 modern system that you should have 1 of six basic classes, then an advanced class. I think that this is one of the best ideas to hit the roleplaying world because you don't come out of the wound as a wizard. I made it a habit that in campaigns i would make my players all start out with atleast one level of commoner...but everyone thought it was disgusting and vile...but too bad. Umm...everything else seemed good, just a little clarification on the ability score which determines the DC's for spells and psionic powers |
#5sekerFeb 05, 2006 23:41:19 | I will look at the elf racial class again on the speed, (though their speed should not be faster than a kank as the kank's were actually faster in 2ed and the fluff..... elves just did not rely on them.) that is actually the kind of stuff I was needing to know. That and any actual typos or rules people have found do not work so well. The whole reason is the stuff I did not include is based off the base systems I sent out.... and if there are flaws in the base systems I have to fix those prior to the add ons. (mainly so I do not end up with an issue like epic spellcasting was in normal DnD..... where is became tacked on instead of a core part, and it allowed for too much abuse/mistranslations.) Keep up the comments so I can get this all ready for everyone...... btw the next playtest is going to be MUCH bigger on the number of pages as it will be almost the entire system. Just giving you a warning. It is also why I wanted the playtesters to get used to the base rules first as otherwise it may be a bit daunting and overwhelming. And I will have a full spell and psionic powers list as a seperate document for the 2nd playtest.... including system for creating new spells and magic items. |
