#1zombiegleemaxFeb 06, 2006 12:50:12 | My game group is spread out over a couple different cities, and we're looking for a set of rules to use for an online campaign. The idea is to have each player control a kingdom or faction within a kingdom (somewhat inspired by George R.R. Martin's books, but on a smaller scale), but we need some rules to go by. We need rules that will let us focus on role-playing (rather than strategy, like 'Diplomacy'), and that has a place for a game-master. I was hoping Birthright might work, but after reading most of the material on WOTC's site and the Birthright.net site, I'm still a little lost. Has anyone out there used these rules for a similar campaign? If so, please let me know. |

Although the rules system takes a little while to get the hang of, it is relatively simple once you've tried it a few times. Might I suggest you purchase a .pdf of the boxed set from www.paizo.com ? I think the pdf is only about $4 - not much to lose to have a look, really. If you do, check out the rulebook (book 2 in the pdf) first and flip () to the Part II: Domains. Skim through and see what you think. I can't really even to explain the system without a lot of typing though... |

#4zombiegleemaxFeb 09, 2006 12:32:17 | Thanks for the ideas. I have downloaded the Birthright rules PDF, although I haven't had a chance to look through it yet. I remember these rules coming out many moons ago (back in the TSR days), but I didn't seem like something I was interested in. Now it may be perfect for what I want. As for the rules-set, we play 3.0, but I'll gladly play an earlier edition again if it meeds my needs. |
