#1zombiegleemaxFeb 14, 2006 6:50:25 | Hi I'm thinking of using a Visilight / Parai NPC in my neverwinter nights module but I'm having trouble finding much info (like stats, history etc) on them. I don't have access to MM3, so I can't read up on them - assuming that it actually has some info on them. Can anyone help me out? eR Edit: All I know so far is that they are constructs who reside on Mechanus and seek perfection in their physical appearance. |

You can get a pdf of that online for about five bucks at someplace like rpgnow.com or drivethrurpg.com They're not constructs, but rather outsiders, to use the 3rd edition term. They look like chalky-skinned humanoids with hair like wiry bristles and dressed in floor-length black outfits. However, the back of their skull is open and inside is a globe of light, where the real parai is. They suck out your vitality with a gaze, but their most feared ability is assimilation: the light flies out of the thing's head and the parai latches onto you and you are transformed into one. They're on a quest to assimilate as many as possible to bring them into their perfectionist collective. It's rather like the Borg from Star Trek, except instead of being motivated by conquest and vicious impulses to crush everybody, they seek out exceptional individuals and try to bring them into the fold so that beauty and perfection can be "refined" and "preserved." Their 3rd edition stats, as you evidently know, are in the Monster Manual III, but under the creature name "Visilight." This thread discusses the paraii in more depth, and WizO_Dabus has converted the paraii into 3rd edition stats for use in a home campaign. |

#4zombiegleemaxFeb 15, 2006 3:11:49 | Thanks for the responses.. I've found another post that discusses Parai and refers to them as medium sized constructs: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=152143&goto=nextoldest so I'm not really sure how best to implement them in my module.. any more advice? eR |
#5factol_rhys_dupFeb 15, 2006 9:53:11 | What do you mean, "how best to implement them"? What are you trying to do with them? I don't know who would convert them as constructs. Outsider seems to be the general consensus, as demonstrated by this other conversion job: Melroch's place |
#6zombiegleemaxFeb 15, 2006 10:02:24 | What do you mean, "how best to implement them"? What are you trying to do with them? The Parai does not exist in the Neverwinter Nights PC game. To "implement" the creature I need as much information as possible so I can essentially convert the creature into a nwn creature blueprint - to do this I'll have to change its stats, if for example the game doesn't support a particular type of special attack, to compensate for loss of abilities. eR |
#7ripvanwormerFeb 15, 2006 13:20:43 | Thanks for the responses.. I've found another post that discusses Parai and refers to them as medium sized constructs: They're classified as "Medium Outsider (Lawful)" in the Monster Manual III. |
