#1loki_de_carabasFeb 15, 2006 17:41:23 | Planars, Proxies, and Primes! Lend us your talents! We at Planewalker are spearheading an exciting new project: The Ultimate Mimir! I'm sure a group of tarmy bashers like yourselves are well familiar with mimirs, right? The jabbering little skulls that float above so many of the clueless, dispensing information? Well, here at Planewalker we are crafting the largest mimir ever! The idea is inspired by The Player's Primer to the Outlands, a CD that was released as a supplement when the product line was still going. (You can download a copy at the WOTC site http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/dx20010914a ). We are recording new mimir entries, and we need ideas and/or scripts! As we get them finished, MP3 versions of each track will be put up on the site in a permanent collection. DMs, you can pick the tracks you want to use and burn a CD. When your players find or buy a mimir give them the disc (the look on their faces will be priceless!) When they inquire of it tell them which track to play. Join us as we create a new multimedia tool for all Planescape DMs! Those wishing to participate please join us on the Planewalker Forums. http://www.planewalker.com/forums/viewThread.php?intPostID=17093 Thats right bashers, coming soon to Snail Outfitters- The Ultimate Mimir! Darks of all sorts harvested from across the planes of the multiverse! The rumors of screed are grossly inaccurate! See you in The Cage! Loki, Section Manager (Cutters) And The Planescape Team |
#2zombiegleemaxFeb 17, 2006 3:27:00 | On-line mimir sounds like a great idea. I liked the "CD" but maybe I'd make it a bit less silly (sounds so strange, coming from me )... Or not :P |
#3CyrissFeb 17, 2006 13:03:49 | This is a cool idea. You might want to give ideas on what type of information you would like scripts for. Monsters? Cities? Portals? Gods? |
#4loki_de_carabasFeb 17, 2006 17:30:49 | The type of information is entirely open. I plan on dividing the mp3s by subject (much like the Mimir Website ), so there will be files on people (NPCs), Planes, and arcana of all sorts. The original Mimir CD had tracks providing introductions to the various outer planes and gatetowns, our intent is to expand on that. Personally I would like to see a variety of topics treated, things like the Inner Planes, The Transitive Planes, The factions, The Guilds, The Circle of Eight, etc. Remember that one can purchase mimirs with an almost infinite array of darks. Look around Planewalker or any of the other Planescape oriented websites and see what inspires you. If anyone is taking requests I would love to see some stuff about the inner planes. The para and quasi-elementals are a big love of mine and are detailed nicely on Planewalker. Thank for getting involved, I look forward to seeing your ideas! |
#5zombiegleemaxFeb 20, 2006 3:26:42 | It seems everyone would like to coorporate but (as usual) when you tell people to do anything they want, they don't know where to begin The original mimir audio CD concentrated on outlands. The first step for a new one could be sigil |
#6loki_de_carabasFeb 20, 2006 7:30:29 | Okay, point well taken. Lets start with the Inner Planes and SIGIL for our topics. That way there is variety, yet also some focus. Remember, the final audio file will be an absolute max of five minutes (the most that the current podcast system can handle as well as being the upper end of what most peope will listen to. The PS Campaign Setting can be found at http://www.planewalker.com/products/released.php if you want to take a look at the chapter on Post Faction War Sigil.... I look forward to seeing the ideas! |
#7stephengroyMar 07, 2006 14:57:24 | I LOVED that CD! Actually built a mimir to house two tiny speakers which ran through the bottom. Tell me where, and I'll post pics. |
#8loki_de_carabasMar 07, 2006 18:34:33 | Email 'em to me directly. Use george.williams.iv (at) gmail.com I would love to see them. So I guess you will be getting involved, eh? |
#9loki_de_carabasApr 01, 2006 20:59:41 | Hey out there! Our first test Mimir Posts have been recorded and are online http://planejammer.blogspot.com/2006/03/ultimate-mimir-great-modron-march.html http://planejammer.blogspot.com/2006/03/ultimate-mimir-blood-war-pscs.html Give us some feedback or send us scripts! Please! |
#10lixinjianApr 02, 2006 15:08:44 | I think your project would take a soul of its own if whatever mimir entry was tied to a character speaking, rather than some lecture of sorts on the subject matter. You could have a situation behind the speaking character, too. One such character might be a wizard onboard of a gith ship sailing through the astral, and whispering his obervations about the astral plane. Another could be a mercykiller warrior locked within a cell on the Grey Waste. Etc. I don't think the "lecture" format is really appropriate for a mimir. Although if it were tied to a lecturing wizard or somesuch... |
