It seems that many of us have our own impressions of it - not surprising, given the scarcity of official source materials. This is of course a problem when it comes to expanding on the area, because if our impressions are too different at the start, it's going to be hard to find a consensus on important issues, and the end product is less likely to suit as many people. The other problem encountered by the MMB work on Wendar is of course "creation by committee"; in the end, a single author must bring everything together, or the end product will be like a jigsaw with parts made by different people, all looking at a different overall picture. So... I am brought to asking you the all-important question: How would you describe the Kingdom of Wendar, in three sentences or less? |

Interesting. I would probably keep the building of stone circles as a mystery of the past, though, and limit current nexus-controlling works to actual buildings. Stone circles have always had a pervading sense of mystery and age about them, and I would prefer to use that for effect rather than make them new, and explain their working. (Then again, that might come from growing up around them...) Now for my own contribution: Wendar – the realm where elves and humans live side by side in harmony. Where together they build towns and cities among the great pine forests, protected by the magic of the fabled Elvenstar. A place where adventurers are not only welcomed but depended upon by the hardworking common folk. |

I would add one more sentence to the end, something to the effect of: Wendar is a blessed land, coveted from without...and within. Essentially, IMO one can't go too far in detailling Wendar without factoring in Denagoth (coveted from without), but also one can't forget that, buried deep within the spirit of co-operation between the humans and the elves, there is a desire to have sole possession of the land (coveted from within). The latter is a foreshadowing that not everything is perfect between the races, or within each race for that matter - witness how bigotry and a good measure of greed cost the elves lasting mastery over the Northern Wildlands in my timeline. ...or maybe this is too deep? Anyhow, my $0.02 Geoff |
