What ever happend to the guy? In my opinion he was so much cooler then his dad and I thought he had great potential to be a great player in the Dragonlance Universe. But from what I read he re-married and settled in Solace... What the crap?

You can read Ulin's story after the Dragons of a New Age trilogy in the short story "The Raid on the Academy of Sorcery" by Margaret Weis (reprinted in Dragons in the Archives: The Best of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman) and the novel Dragon's Bluff by Mary Herbert.

I was wondering about Ulin stats... among other things hehe

- Ulin level: Sor 6, AcSor 4??? any idea???

Also, with the return of high sorcery would he turn to it, or will he stick to primal sorcery?

Ulin is inching ahead in the March Character Spotlight, so I think there may be a fan version or two soon. I'm not anticipating an official version for a while.

We've talked on that list, and basically have decided that if Ulin wins, we will do two versions of him - one as a dragon mage, and the other as presented in Dragon's Bluff.

I would say he would be a sorcerer/Academy Sorcerer/Dragon Mage. Or, maybe just a sorcerer/Academy sorcerer. He would have ranks (if not a skill focus) in Craft (alchemy). From there, not sure yet.

Also, with the return of high sorcery would he turn to it, or will he stick to primal sorcery?

It's possible. Ulin, as described in "The Raid on the Academy of Sorcery", was more scientifically-minded, so it may be that he turns to the more rigid methods of magic of High Sorcery.

I think I read a fan version of Ulin, where he became the greatest sorcerer in the world along w/ his gold dragon. They rebuilt the acadamy and stood opposed to the new Wizard's council. I always thought that would be cool, a Majere directly aginst the wizards. Thats a cool hook

That would be my Academy of the Dragon Mage.

I would have to agree with this, although I think most of that had something to do with the fact that magic became unreliable. Had the dead not been leeching all the magic he may not have become disenchanted.

On an unrelated note, no one that I ever vote for ever wins. Poor Dunbar.

I'd like to see Ulin as a robed mage.... in fact i rather see him as a candidate for Master of the White Robes than the girl from the Icereach ¬¬

That's a cool character too, i'm sure he is a Sea Mage, at least 15th level, never seen a fan version, but i'd say his high stats are: dex, con, int... but this might deserve its own thread

I'm going to disagree with this point. While I can see Ulin becoming a White Robe, I think there are two problems with it. First, it leaves us with one less iconic sorcerer, and Dragonlance is sorely in need of more sorcerers.

Secondly, I feel that having Ulin as a White Robe would be "just another Majere wizard." Raistlin had his own cool factor, and Palin was cool as "Raistlin's heir," though he took the path of the White Robes instead. Having Ulin as a White Robe just continues what is already there. There would have to be considerable work done to give Ulin his own identity if he were to be a wizard.

I'm not sure about the iconic thing.

Who are Dragonlance's iconic mystic, iconic bard, iconic monk, and iconic druid? Is there an iconic barbarian?

Ulin has been portrayed as an academic-minded individual, but that doesn't mean he needs to be a wizard. He doesn't like to see what magic has done to his father, and he never lived in an age in which wizard magic existed. All he's known is the slow fading of sorcery during the Age of Mortals. Now that it's working again, it might be that rather than turn to wizardry or continue to explore sorcery, he just runs with his alchemical talents.

Who are Dragonlance's iconic mystic,

Jasper Fireforge, though he was once a cleric. Goldmoon would also count for a short time. Feril.

iconic bard

Here we're in short supply, though the only one I can think of is the Herald. Even at that, I think he'd be better presented as a master performer or master sage.

iconic monk

Rhys Mason.

iconic druid

Feril is pretty close, though she's a mystic.

Is there an iconic barbarian?

Eh, not so much.

Maybe "iconic" wasn't the right word so much as "example."

Each of the D&D classes needs to have an iconic character in DL. That being said, I feel that there needs to be a heroic sorcerer character in a Dragonlance novel soon so that we don't get the view that wizards = good, sorcerers = bad. It's all about balance! ;)

Oh, and back to topic, Ulin Majere's stats are done.
