#1The_JesterMar 08, 2006 0:00:43 | So I'm just getting into Greyhawk (LGH with the RPGA) and am curious about the setting. Now, I know the easy way to learn would be to buy some books but I do have a limited budget and eBay gets expensive, especially with the "collector's mods" and such. And the Living Gazetteer isn't still in stores or anything... So what do I need to know about the setting? General information and advice. Basics, tidbits, fun facts, things to toss out in games, etc. |

We wrote it for people just like you so it would be nice if, once in a while, somebody decided to read it ;) Second, most (say, 95%) of the GH accessories ever published are available as (cheap) pdf download from various websites (Paizo, RPGNow, ..). No, the LGG isn't (yet) but since it's only the last in a long series, you won't really need it (at first). I think the most important question you'll have to answer is: "in what era do I want to play?". Obviously, if you're a LG player, then the answer is "591+ CY". Unfortunately, there are few general info available on that period (apart from the LGG). Thus, methink this would cover the basics nicely: http://home.flash.net/~brenfrow/gh/gh-pg.htm Enough info to understand the big picture (including a world map with the boundaries of nations) but not so much that you would feel overwhelmed. |

I would suggest you get the LGG, the free *Ivid the Undying* from the Download section here at Wizards, and check the canonfire-site for additional free material on history and culture. With that, you should get a nice overview on the feeling of the setting. |
