#1ZardnaarMar 12, 2006 1:11:59 | My campaign is set in FY 12 and I'll be using the start of Dregoth ascending for some of my PCs. Basically they'll be in Raam when Dregoth gets there but are to low in level to do the adventure. They've reached Kurn and the Templar has switched her loyalty to Oronis from Lalali-Puy. She still doesn't know the truth of Oronis as I have portrayed him as a feeble old man. One of my story ideas centres on Oronis and I was thinking that if Dragons can cheat on their transformation could he do the same? In 2nd ed terms to jump from level 24-30. One idea I'm throwing around is a new fully transformed Dragon reaches the Tyr region from beyond the Silt Sea. The Dragon is known as the Silt Queen and can grant Templar spells due to an epic spell that has stolen an elemental vortex from a dead Sorceror King. The 3 remaining SK's + Oronis and Daskinor are forced into an uneasy alliance and somehow the Dark Lens is retrieved. One of the SKs needs to be transformed a'la Borys into a Dragon to face the Silt Queen. Using the Dark Lens and the now empty Pristine Tower..... Oronis volunteers to cast the spell as he knows how to avoid the rage and the other SKs lend him power to complete the transformation. I think it would be funny to see the expressions on the others faces when a fully formed avangion appears. Dumb idea or usable? |

I'd say a better arc would be Oronis takes part in a ceremoney to advance another SK, say, Nibenay, and 'steals' the spell. Confused, the other SM's think they have stuffed up, and begin the plan how to face the silt queen as they are. Oronis goes how, allows the stolen spell to take effect and completes his transformation.... just my 02.c |

It is somehow usable, I think, but the things can be made yet more complicated. The result of artificially amplified dragon metamorphosis is different with the result of the natural one - compare Borys's stats from The Wanderer's Journal, p. 89, with those of the natural 30th-level dragon from the Dragon Kings, p. 39, or the Defilers and Preservers, p. 36. So, the result of the avangion metamorphosis amplification can also be made very dissimilar with any expectations.:88E: |
