What is a PEYION?
Did you mean Petition?
Do you want somthing other than the Gazetteer, which is still 3.0 I guess (not that it matters much)?

I highly doubt this would happen, but in order to at least be taken semi-seriously, you need to spell correctly.

Grognards,

Come on fellers! Ferreting meaning from tidbits and snippets of information is what Greyhawk (or grey hawk) is all about!

Also, as far as I can tell, WOTC does not care a goblin-snot whether fans of GH are proficient at spelling, gammar, petition (peyion) writing, begging or threatening. If there is no promise/guarentee of great amounts of $$$ around GH brand, there will never ever ever ever ever be any interest ever again. WOTC (i.e., Hasboro, who aquired WOTC for the Pokemon $$$ and now that that lily has wilted looks at WOTC as a useless nub, waiting til it gets annoying enough to be removed...) are required to make $$$ for the shareholders. That's all. It appears that WOTC analysis indicates that GH lives in corperate purgatory--not worth developing/investing in, however, at the same time, the IP value is high enough to preclude liscencing to a third party due to competition with other WOTC products. Life sucks. Bitterness fills all of our souls.

This and other forums is all we GH-luvers have left.

That and "fight kill D&D and sword"

Sorry for the rant-ish tone and poor spelling.

I doubt I'm the oldest or grognardest here, but if you're going to seriously petition anyone, you'll get further with a stout heart and good spelling than you will with just a stout heart.

Just a word of gentle advice. I think petitioning is great and if it gets results, even better - but if a few of the old timers here are not immediately enthused by the idea, it's because they've become accustomed to disappointment. ;)

Expanding on the above, e-petitions rarely ever work. No matter what anyone tells you they are not viable. For more info on that go to Snopes.com I have yet to see them wrong on very much.

Moving on...

If you really want to see Greyhawk returned to the fold you'll need a real petition signed by gamers with phone numbers and addresses. You'll need to co-ordinate with gamestores and player groups. Get the forms back and them mail them to WOTC and wait. Even in this world of disposable technology paper forms with real signatures and eloquently written wording are still what gets things done. ( Thank God that hasn't changed.)

Personally, I'd rather see GH left open for DM development and not company development. The only thing I would like WOTC to do is make a Greyhawk hardback with a few additions PrC's and spells for the setting and maybe and adventure or two to differenciate from the Living Greyhawk stuff. After that they can forget it exists so we can have a world that is ours and not have 70+ 'must-have' products tied to it.

There are two huge problems with email and forum petitions:

1) As mentioned before, it's nearly impossible to verify that people aren't using aliases to "sign the petition" multiple times.

2) The sheer numbers required are never met. WotC needs to have a reliable guess that a proposed product will sell 10s or 100s of thousands of copies to justify producing, printing and marketing it. As good as posting to threads like these might make us feel, a couple dozen "signatures", or even a couple hundred, mean nothing.
