#1zombiegleemaxMar 28, 2006 13:21:35 | Are there any street gangs in GHC? I'm playing an old Rhennee character and I'd like to develop the idea of him running into gang members of a gang that he helped to start when he was a lad. He's been "gone" for along time so they won't/shouldn't care who he is or whatever. I'm somewhat inspired by a bit of documentary I saw the other day about a street gang in NYC (I won't say which). I figure the Rhennee would be ripe for this kind of scenario. Any info is appreciated. Thanks! |

The Begger's Union and the Thieves' Guild seemed to have affiliated bands of thugs working for them. According to ToOC, Rhennee "gangs" tend to be affiliated to one or other family or lord. I'm sure they walk a fine line between thumbing their nose at the Guild and paying just enough respect to make it possible for them to do business in Greyhawk. One thing that bothered me about Greyhawk was the all smothering and largely unchallenged authority of the Thieves Guild. The city could do with a shake up. With all those Tenha, Nyrondese and Shield Lander refugees coming into town after the Wars, you'd have thought that a Nyrondese "mafia" would have sprung up to challenge the Guild. Perhaps they have, but have been laying low and quietly spreading their influence... I recently came across the word Highbinder while thumbing through a dictonary (it's an exciting life I lead!). It was the name of a New York gang apparently - and a very cool one at that...Perhaps that's the name of one of the Nyrondese gangs...? P. |

My plan is to play this character now as an old man (busted back down to first level) who has lost memories from his last 39 years. The last thing he remembers is being 16 in CY 576. The second part of my plan is to play this character again as a 16 year old when we hit the Campaign Reset Button in a few years as we do every 5-8 years or so. I may do more with the gang idea later on, I'm just mining for ideas. |

I would hope that this pitiful group isn't the most dangerous of GH's street gangs (although that would explain why none have risen to much prominence). |
