#2zombiegleemaxMar 30, 2006 14:13:47 | I don't think so. However, let's take inventory shall we? The white orb(for references only; I know that Krynn Orbs aren't color-specified) was shattered by Tas at the council of Whitestone. The green orb was broken by Raistlin. The blue orb that was used in the dragontraps of the High Clerist tower likely didn't survive the destruction of the dragontraps. The Dragon Orbs are notoriously breakable after all.The black orb was held in the Tower of Losarcum and the red orb was held in the Tower of Daltigoth. According to sources those Dragon Orbs were destroyed in the demolition of their respective towers. However. and this is only my opinion, I never really believed that the Orders of High Sorcery would have just let those two Orbs be destroyed. It would have been easy enough to simply move them to Wayreth or some other stronghold of the Orders. So, if you want them in your campaign, rule that those two escaped destruction and you're all set. |

Thanks for the responses, Cam and Darth. :D Are these two orbs still in those locations (City of Istar and City of Lost Names)? Or are they in the ruined Towers of Daltigoth and Losarcum? And which orbs are they? Who did they belong to in history? |
#5zombiegleemaxMar 30, 2006 23:20:21 | Let's see...ah! The Dragon Orb that was in Istar is the green orb. It wassaved from the wreckage by Lorac Caladon and later claimed by Raistlin. It is the one he breaks, so I doubt its available for use. This is the first I heard of an Ord being held in the Anvil of Time though(in my campaigns I had the two tower orbs moved to Zhaman and th Lyceum). Hmm...I think that the Orb in the Anvil of TIme is the blue Orb that was in the dragontraps. Obviously this is simply a guess and I defer to Cam on the specifics. |

Hmm...I think that the Orb in the Anvil of TIme is the blue Orb that was in the dragontraps. Obviously this is simply a guess and I defer to Cam on the specifics. Here's my thought on the dragonorbs: Orb of Palanthas: Moved to Dragondeath (High Clerist Tower); found by Laurana; most likely destroyed during the battle. Orb of Istar: Rescued by Lorac; used by Lorac; taken by Raistlin; used by Raistlin; broken by Raistlin. Orb of Daltigoth: Removed from Daltigoth before its destruction and somehow found its way to Icewall in Sleet's hoard; stolen by the Heroes of the Lance; broken by Tasslehoff. Orb of Losarcum: Removed from Losarcum before its destruction; somehow found its way to Istar; owned by Zebulah and the Dargonesti; current whereabouts unknown. Orb of Wayreth: Placed in the Anvil of Time...no reason given as to why it was placed there. Now, granted...of these five, the only ones we can say for certain which tower they most likely originally belonged is the Istar Orb and the Palanthas Orb. The other three...that's just speculation on my part (but educated speculation, I think). For the time being, until there is a discrepincy (like a 6th dragonorb showing up somewhere) I'd like to think that the Anvil of Time orb and the Dragondeath orb are not one and the same. However, given the Age that the orb appears in the Anvil and when Laurana finds the orb in the High Clerist Tower, if a 6th orb ever appears in a novel or game or what not, it probably wouldn't be too much of a stretch to believe that they are both the same orb. |
#7zombiegleemaxApr 05, 2006 0:51:05 | I was thinking on the possibility of more than five Dragon Orbs and here was what I came up with: Each of the original five(like one of the dragon orbs in the DMG) contain a spirit of a chromatic dragon. This was because they were used to defeat the chromatic dragons. Seeing as the metallic dragons as a whole never seemed to be a threat an extra five orbs weren't needed for them. However one of the requirements of the creation procession is that one use a true dragon(no amphidragons, grey dragons, fire ragons, etc.) spirit. On Krynn there are only two potential true dragon species that could be the spirits for additional Dragon Orbs: Shadow Dragons(even though they aren't native to Krynn there have been a sufficient number of them over time), and Sea Dragons(like Midori or Brine for instance). Because of this it is feasible, if one could rediscover the creation process, to create a sixth and seventh orb. In my campaign the Head of the Conclave of Wizardry has reclaimed the Orb from the Anvil of Time, and is planning to use the Anvil to travel to the point of the original five Dragon Orbs' creation. This way he can learn the process, and order the present Conclave to begin the construction of two more orbs. I may even have them remake the ones that were lost as well. |
