#3 Kamelion Apr 12, 2006 4:08:17	Terrors of Athas 3.5 is available. There is some errata that is being incorporated into an upcoming release, but the current version is 3.5 compliant.

I agree with xlorep, as much as I like Dawn's work, I don't think it's neither fair nor wise to have just his work in there. I would like to see more contributions from anyone that has a smidgen of talent. But that's just me. I would say pick a monster, draw it up and send it to the art coordinator and see what he thinks (once he gets done with the more important family stuff of course). Jon can flense me later if this is a bad idea.

I agree that diversity would suit us well. Dawn has a unique style, which I personally like in very many cases, but there are some monsters Dawn himself has said he might redo. However, that was before he disappeared off the face of the planet. Dawn, if you´re reading this, buddy, drop me a line. I´d say if you take a look at Dawnstealer´s art page (http://www.geocities.com/tticd/darksun.html ) and see a monster you think you could provide another exciting version of, do it. We prefer to have more than one pic to choose from.
#31 Kamelion Apr 13, 2006 14:48:09	Not speaking for Penn here, but we discussed adding diversity to the mix of monster art a while back and came up with a tentative list of additional monsters to add. When he's back in the neighbourhood he can probably add some perspective on what the state of play is vis a vis the artwork, but like Jon says, any additonal choice is always a good thing. Regarding the main doc, Nyt and I compared notes today and there really is very little still to do. We should see some movement there soon.

I use the Expanded Psionics hand book, and was wondering if all of the powers used are updated to that source. For some reason I thought it was not. However, on the last sweep I noticed two areas that still seem to use the old psionics rules (specifically the entry on the Guardian creature, but the Chanth may also need revision). Those are on the list of stuff to do - the rest of the latest release should be XPH-compliant, though. (FYI, apart from those two psionics entries, the only other stuff to do is to create a dray transformation template, edit the mir'iseth and add the missing creatures - other than that, we are done ).

You can if you so wish. We need to do an edit anyway, so you might save yourself some redundant work if you wait, but I am easy either way. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind for the opening fluff is to present it as something you could literally read out to players the first time that they set eyes on the creature. So it should be descriptive without going into unecessary details and shouldn't contain any names or other overt identifying or specific elements. So the current opening text for the mir'iseth should lose the parts where it kills the observer - not all encounters with a mir'iseth would open in such a way (although it might make for a cool recurring element... "Dead again??? Not another mir'iseth!!") As a side note- is their leader gong to be presented in ToA as well? Or would you rather have another classed example. I think that Serith would merit inclusion. It is often a good idea to include an advanced or classed version of a creature and he fits the bill. We did something similar with the lizardfolk, iirc.

Good idea none the less. edit the mir'iseth I say we just scrap this, it's a total waste of space anyways. Nothing Kal has done is all that great anyways. /me runs and add the missing creatures - other than that, we are done ). You forgot the drakes, which need an overhaul. Plus a few other things I want to go through now that it's back in my evil hands (mwuahahahahaha!). I want to finally release this thing and be happy about it and then let the art bureau add the images and move on. I feel old and burnt out before my time thanks to this beast, heh.
