Say,
has anyone ever written up a presitge class for the Spymaster mentioned in Wisdom of the Drylanders?
Do you reckon spymasters or something similar would exist from non-Kurn backgrounds?

This brings up an important point, one that crops up regularly: Not all ranks or positions or 2E kits need to be made into PrCs. I believe, for example, that Urik's dead heart templar is simply a combination of classes, not a particular PrC.

That said, a Kurn spymaster might warrant a PrC, one that would give Gather Information and Hide bonuses, bonus languages, Knowledge bonuses, as well as the ability to hide oneself's from magic/psionic detection/divination.

I take your point but I gather from WotD that there may be many of these chappies from Kurn. Most seem to have a number of psionic abilities, rogue abilities and a few unique abilities. So I'd think that ought to warrant a separate PrC. Plus it sounds groovy!

Isn't there a spy PrC in the Complete Adventurer? Might suit what you're looking for.

Hmm, okay, that one's a little hard for me to evaluate just now as I still haven't found a decent shop in Glasgow with D&D stuff in it. If anyone could paste that PrC in here that'd be great.
Otherwise I'll check it out next week when 'home' in Dublin.

Can't post it due to copyright reasons etc. It starts on page 76 of Complete Adventurer. It has.
Spymaster PrC outline.
7 levels
8 skill points/level
2d6 sneak attack
various abilities making you immune to alighnment detection, mindprobes etc.

Overall I think its exactly what you want.

yeah, that sounds pretty good, that might well do the trick!
Though there still might be room for a spymaster after finishing the 7 spy levels. I noticed that Elemental Master could probably follow Elementalist in the Dark Sun list of Prestige Classes and in the same way spy master could follow the spy if there's sufficient rationale and ideas for it.
But thanks for the ref, I'll take a look at that one next week.

Well, I figured a defiler/psion couldn't use the speak with dead spell and I found a defiler/psion/templar started to be complicated... and heck, I just felt like seeing what it might look like!
[runs out of the forum crying while everybody wonders what just happened]

Seriously though, it was just for kicks.

PB,

I wouldn't quit work on the DHI PrC just yet. I really like the way it's progressing and feel its chock full of flavor. Its certainly not a power gamers PrC, but it most definitely fills a great niche in DS IMO.

Let me put it this way. If you quit work on it and don't submit a finalized copy to Kal for the DS PrC Appendix II I will hunt you down and feed your entrails to the lirrs.

I know I have been pretty quite on the threads with PrCs on them lately, and it is not because I am uninterested, it is just that i do not want to give a false impression of favoritism or anything- I do like the DHI though PB and hope you do finish it, because even if it does not make it into the PrC APXII I will be adding this fellow to my campaign- most of my players have read Brazen Gambit and would love it, until I began killing them. Then I have to put up with a bunch of whinning!!!

I think I'd need some pointers from Brax, first. But when's the last time you heard of him?

I will make more searches of Wisdom of the Drylanders, but its an option limited to how relevant my searches are...

Anyone has thoroughly read Wisdom and has pointers for me as to how to proceed with the class?

haven't read through WotDL too much yet, but you might take a look at the Zhentarim Spy and Spymaster PrCs (from Player's Guide to Faerun and Complete Adventurer respectively). The Harper Agent PrC might warrent a look as well (also from PGtF)

I was unaware of the Zhentarim Spy and Harper Agent classes, but I already checked the Spymaster and found it useful. Thanks for the info

Rather than design a new PrC would it be better to have a thread listing modifications to existing PrCs to fit them into DS. The Zhentarim Spy for example could be Tsalaxa Spy etc. Might save alot of work.

If we can make it athasian, many in the community will attempt it. The rest will take what already exists and modify it. Both are okey, but IMO only the former can make the flavor or the setting advance.

I prefer to create than to adapt, and to adapt rather than import wholesale. That's just me.

There are two "Dark Sun - The Game" out there: one where DMs have access to all and any d20/WotC book, and one where they have minimal or no access. The latter is the official setting by athas.org. I prefer to create for it, and let others decide if its good enough for inclusion.

Good Luck too. I have yet to see a Spy-related prestige class that actually seems to capture the essence of what makes spies cool. I'm not sure if the d20 mechanics are actually up to the challenge.

Course I'd love to see someone prove me wrong.
