#2ruhl-than_sageMay 27, 2006 15:26:40 | I think I would increase this spell to a 3rd level spell, or reduce its duration to 1/round per level. As it stands right now it seems a little strong for a 2nd level cleric spell. It is a little stronger then the 2nd level Druid spell Flame Blade, because of the whip's superior qualities over a blade (namely its reach and status as a tripping weapon, finesse weapon, and +2 bonus on disarming attempts). |
#3radnoviusMay 27, 2006 15:36:20 | I considered that, which is why I made it do only 1d6 instead of 1d8 energy damage. Also, in order to weild it without a -4 penalty a magma cleric will have had to spend a feat slot on exotic weapon proficiency, whip. |
#4ruhl-than_sageMay 27, 2006 15:51:14 | Hmm... well, I would make a note of that in the spell description for clarity purposes. I guess I didn't notice the slightly smaller damage. OK, other then their not being a type of damage called Magma damage then it all seems fine :P |
#5radnoviusMay 27, 2006 16:14:13 | I made the edit above. Included explanation on proficiency. Defined Magma = 1/2 Fire / 1/2 Acid |
#6ZardnaarMay 27, 2006 16:55:12 | I would make it 100% fire damage and let the cleric have proficiency in it. Most spells that conjure weapons let the spellcaster use them. Makes it slightly better than flame blade but not 3rd level in power. Its okay IMHO to make domain spells slightly more powerful than their level would indicate as long as its not a massive change. |
