#2havardMay 29, 2006 7:40:00 | Do giffs worship a deity? And if so, what deity? The Egyptian goddess Taueret, the goddess of Hippos, childbirth and pregnant women would fit well... Also check out: http://members.aol.com/HippoPage/hppegypt.htm Håvard |

Giff adopt the worship of whatever deities their employers venerate. In addition, giff hold to a quasi-mystical deism, claiming that all things have a purpose in the world and that the purpose of giff is to follow orders." The Egyptian goddess Taueret, the goddess of Hippos, childbirth and pregnant women would fit well... Yes... Despite the lack of their own religion, I can see some giff venerating Tauret. As stated in the Lorebook of the Void, "The giff practice equality among the sexes in battle and in childrearing." Therefore, Tauret's childbearing portfolio might go well with many giff. In addition, I can see many giff worshipping Ptah. He seems to have a strong presence in wildspace and his law and travel domains would fit nicely into giff ideology. |

Given they are a military race, almost all of thier heros would be soldiers, who are venerated for various feats of bravery, or ingenuinity in combat. A quick search for famous US soldiers, or Medal of Honor reciepents, or even the names in my sig, could give you some real world references. Depending on which hero a Giff follows, could determine what weapon he or she carries, or what tattoos they have, and even the way they present themselves in battle. Although that doesnt answer the "giff God" question, this is simply my own take on thier spiritual outlook on life, given they are an uber militaristic race. |

Doesn't sound like much like voodoo to me (what little I know of it), but it's a very cool idea. Wyvern |
#7rab-ka-laJun 17, 2006 17:39:46 | I think I like the voodoo angle. A highly regimented life and society of repression could lead to all sorts of supernatural beliefs and even perversity's that wouldn't be seen by the outside world. I have an uncle who was the typical career marine, but quite strange when 'no one was looking' ... |
