If a templar has used the Requisition Troops or Requisition Psion/Spellcaster portion of Secular Authority, would the resulting encounter be higher than the Templar's standard CR or would the rules be similar to those for Summoned Monsters? It seems, since SA is part of what gives the Templar his power (and therefore his CR), that you would do the latter and not give out Experience for any Troops, Psion or Spellcaster with him. But on the other hand this could definitely make an encounter with a Templar significantly more difficult. I can't seem to find anything on the subject with regards to the Leadership feat itself. Is there a ruling on how this works specifically for Templars? Has anyone run into this before? |

On the SA front, another thing to bare in mind is that the ability really only applies to PC templars interacting with NPCs - an NPC templar will show up with as many soldiers as you think they should show up with, and an NPC will allow themselves to be arrested (or not) by a templar at your whim, so the class ability is really pretty questionable in that regard. If anything, if you (as the DM) feel that a templar without the SA ability isn't worth 1 CR per class level, then my suggestion would be to treat them as NPC classes and make their CR 1 less. Then just go ahead and give every soldier or what-not they bring along with them their own CR, but adjust it down whenever they've got NPC levels rather than full-fledged PC levels. |
