#1stanlesMay 30, 2006 20:35:18 | this might only be marginally Mystara related, but is there a 3.5E version of insanity type rules ala Geoff's article? |
#2CthulhudrewMay 30, 2006 20:41:14 | Maybe not exactly like what you're looking for, but here are the rules for Sanity from Unearthed Arcana (all Open Gaming Content). It's essentially the same rules they used in the d20 Call of Cthulhu, which were more or less the Sanity rules from the non-d20 Call of Cthulhu. |
#3havardMay 31, 2006 6:29:37 | Thanks for directing my attention to this interesting article by Geoff, Stan. IMC I'd use Will saves modified by the creature's horror rating. The result of a failed save could be temporary INT loss. If the INT is temporarily reduced to 0, the character won't die, but probably develop a permanent derangement. This doesnt work too well with your average heroic campaign however. Ofcourse, some campaigns may have acess to easy magical cures for such illnesses. Håvard |

#5CthulhudrewMay 31, 2006 13:54:40 | From what I understand, the Heroes of Horror rules use a variation of the Taint rules from Oriental Adventures/Unearthed Arcana (which, btw, are also available on the Hypertext d20 site and System Reference Document). Not sure of the specifics on how they vary, though. |

If you have time to do something like that, I think it would be useful. Håvard |
