I recently had my PC's encounter a nest of Fire Lizards (Out of the athas.org ToA), and contrary to their usually greedy selves, they seem bent on hatching/breeding the eggs. I'm wondering if there is more detailed info anywhere on what you need for that, and how fast it will go.

Edit: If there is no detailed information, i'm considering linking growth speed/longevity relative to big known lizards (like the komodo dragon). That would put the eggs at 10 months to hatch, then about 8 years to mature. Something like start: tiny, year 1: small, year 2: medium, year 4: large, year 8:huge?

I think I would base it size wise on dragons somewhat. Lizards are such that they may continue to grow after reaching maturity, based upon food supply. Thus, I'd expect that Huge is the size for an adult, making a young adult large or huge. Typically, dragon hatchlings are two sizes smaller than young adults. Occasionally, large young adults have tiny hatchlings.
Thus, I'd suggest the following progression:

For a large young adult:
Hatchling: small. year 3: medium. year 8: large.
or
Hatchling: tiny. year 1: small. year 3: medium. year 8: medium.

For a huge young adult:
Hatchling: medium. year 3: large. year 8: huge.
or
Hatchling: small. year 1: medium. year 3: large. year 8: huge.

Fire lizards also leave the nest and start hunting right away; so one that is freshly hatched would likely think the PCs were food and attack.
