#1zombiegleemaxJun 07, 2006 15:36:56 | I'm currently trapped in a Ravenloft campaign. I just recently learned about the unusual effect of turning in the Realm of Dread. I can deal with not being able to destroy undead half my HD without immoblilzing them, but I feel Greater Turning from the Sun Domain and Disiciple of the Sun feat from Complete Divine should destroy undead. So I come to the experts of the Realm of Dread to seek the answer to my disagreement with my DM. Thank you for your time. |

Normally (in RL, that is), you can destroy undeads only if you have twice as many levels as their HD AND they are prevented from fleeing. Using the granted power of the Sun domain only means that the first part of this restriction is ignored but not the second. Same thing for the Disciple of the Sun feat. Let's face it, there isn't any "easy" way to destroy undeads in RL. Even RL's PrC dedicated to destroying undeads (i.e. Herald of Dawn from Gaz1) can't manage that feat. Sunburst/Sunray still work though... |

If anything stops them from doing that they are destroyed (if you would destroy them normally). So what does that mean? Use tactics. Try to make sure that you have the undead near a corner, or in a object heavy area. If they have to turn to maneuvor around an object, they are destroyed. |

Therefore, the rules that worked in your "home" gameworld are not 100% going to work in RL. It is the Demiplane of Dread after all. What could be scarrier for a cleric to be surrounded by zombies (something he can easily deal with) that do nothing when he attempts to turn them? |
#5zombiegleemaxJun 08, 2006 20:09:20 | Yes the DM did abit of a run around on the players and put us in the Realm of Dread without telling us that we are natives. After some time he told us but most of us felt abit betrayed when at the begining he told us we was going to be in a campaign of his own. Thank you all for giving me the answer to my question. |
