Using the Tarokka Deck....

Jun 09, 2006 12:33:56 I have a couple of ideas how I want to incorporate it into my campaign, but I'm not sure how well they would go.

I'm just wondering if any of you have used it? How well it went over? And maybe some techniques, mechanically and otherwise, to make it a fun experience.

I'm kind of new to Ravenloft as well. Read a couple of books and thought it looked like a lot of fun.

Jun 09, 2006 16:31:10 This deck is difficult to use while setting the right atmosphere. The RL DMG will give you tricks and ways to use the cards as a vistani would, as well as a detailled meaning for each card.

Once I cheated the players (but with good intentions ): I had them shuffle the cards, then I added on top of the deck, without them noticing it, the cards I wanted for my game. They were amazed of the results, heh heh ...

Jun 09, 2006 16:36:13 kind of what I thought about doing, stacking the deck so the reading I wanted would pop up. I'd bet you couldn't get away with doing that all the time, though.

Jun 09, 2006 18:47:09 You do things like the original Ravenloft. In that, each "core class" representative drew a random card, and those card determined locations of items, encounters, etc. throughout Strahd's castle. I always like having the players determine their own doom...I mean, destiny.
