#1sanderjkJun 09, 2006 20:19:49 | I came across a timeline of the history of DS, and it mentioned that in '03 the Templars in Tyr revolted? Is this true, and if so, where is it elaborated on? My PC's are currently entering 03, and i'm wondering if i can make a tie in. (They are in Tyr, and not that friendly with the templarate). I have access to pretty much all the DS books, but don't know where to look.... |

In FY1 the government was changed and slavery abolished, and as far as I know the templars became true civil workers and administrators. |

One in Beyond the Prism Pentad: “Other problems that occurred during Titian’s Reign included… ,the templar revolt of Free Year 3, …” and another in The Wanderer's Chronicle: “The templar revolt of Free Year 3 shut down the bureaucracy and public works for nearly two months, until those who swore new oaths to abandon the old ways and support the tenets of Free Tyr were given more representation in the Council.” The second one seems to imply that it may have been more of civil unrest/ protests, than an armed revolt to overthrow King Tithian. That is all the elaboration of the Templar Revolt that I know of. |

I'm not sure, but something that comes to mind is: in the old computer game, "Wake of the Ravager," the Templars of Tyr were conspiring with the Ur Draxans to basically give Tyr over to the dragon, in exchange for new magic. Of course, they were going to be offered up as sacrifices as soon as the Dragon got there, and it turns out that the Ur Draxan Kaisharga that was heading the project was looking for a way to backstab the Dragon. I'm not sure if anyone outside of me counts the old games as canon, and I don't know if this is even the "Templar Revolt" (As the revolt took place in FY3, and the game makes mention that King Tithian vanished "recently"), but it's just what came to mind. |
#5zombiegleemaxSep 30, 2006 2:14:50 | I'm willing to count the first game "Shattered Lands" as canon, but the second one takes a few too many liberties with esbablished history for my tastes. As for the templar revolt, I see it as being similar to a labor strike gone bad. |
