Such as Tembo or Gaj, pictures would help immensely. Infact Brom and Braxa (among the other dark sun artist) breathed a considerable amount of life with their gorgeous imagery into darksun. Are thier any plans to illustrate these online releases? I posses almost every officially released Dark Sun product (even the dragon and dungeons articles/adventures). Could they be reused or is that infringing upon some type of copy right or intellectual property owership thingee? |

Athas.org must obtain new art. Finding artists willing to draw quality art that would survive critical fans' expectations... and be free... is difficult. Which is not to say there aren't any. Athas.org has contacts with a few. But to draw free art is essentially volunteer work as much as writing and editing the Athas.org products are. Having the small stable of willing artists draw that much new, free, art is extremely time consuming. |

Finding artists willing to draw quality art that would survive critical fans' expectations... and be free... is difficult. That's unfortunate. It must have to be due to dual copyrighting with the authors retaining copyright of their work. I have noticed that WotC reuses many of its illustrations in various books released. I wonder if those images were obtained under different circumstances or if they do a pay-per-use with the artists. One thought would be to offer free advertising to some relatively young new but talented artist. They could get some exposure of their craft and maybe put a banner up on the athas.org site. I don't know if WotC would go for it though. I'm trying to talk my brother, who is remarkably talented, into coming up with some stuff, but he has pretty limitted free-time right now. |

We (athas.org) are not WotC. We do not have full and unfettered access to WotC's intellecutal property. We cannot cut and paste text from previous Dark Sun supplements. It is what it is. |

#6lolzewolfJun 23, 2006 4:47:22 | Hello, I'm a french artist, and I just started to draw some pictures to illustrate the monsters of Dark Sun to show my players what they look like... I'd be glad to send them to athas.org if you like them... I 've tried to show them in this post but I don't know how to do... Can somebody help me? |
#7PennarinJun 23, 2006 14:07:25 | lolzewolf, you can send samples of art to me at pennarin@gmail.com, and I'll see if we can use your talent or not, and in what field. Just send samples of what you think you did that is best. |
