#2MortepierreJun 23, 2006 3:55:13 | There has been different outcomes in the past. Usually, either the domain simply goes POOF! or somebody else takes over (the next in line, so to speak) but that often results in drastic changes to the domain. A few cases I can think of.. - Gundarak: after the "death" of the duke, was divided and taken over by the DL of Invidia & Barovia with minimal change to the landscape and the people - Daglan (in Feast of Goblyns): breaks apart in a cataclysm and dissolves into nothingness - Valachan (Dungeon #50): the entire domain is transported to the Prime Material Plane - Darkon: following the (temporary) death of Azalin, subdivised into a series of linked subdomains |
#3gonzoronJun 23, 2006 9:07:03 | And some examples of "next in line" are: Invidia: Gabrielle Aderre killed Baron Bahkolis and took over Borca: Ivana Boritsi killed her mother to take over. Richemulot: Claude Renier died (was killed?) and his daughter Jacqueline took over. Gundarak: didn't get absorbed by Invidia and Barovia directly. Dr. Dominiani ruled for a time after Gundar's death, and then got his own domain in the Grand Conjunction, and then Gundarak got divided up. |
#4zombiegleemaxJun 24, 2006 1:24:34 | Ok, sounds reasonable enough. But now for the $64 question: What happens to the PCs in the domain in question who kill or lead to the dark lord's destruction? |
#5MortepierreJun 24, 2006 2:39:54 | Pick one: - transported back to their own world (if they are "outlanders") - transported elsewhere in RL - if the domain is sent to the Prime, the PC might be hailed as heroes and asked to lead the survivors (that's what happened in the Dungeon adventure anyway) - killed instantly |
#6gottenJun 24, 2006 9:13:36 | Pick one: add to this near complete list: - wander the cool ravenloft mists for a while, then land elsewhere (see VRGttMists) Joël |
