Hello everyone (first post),

Go Dark Sun!!! OK, now that's out of the way...

I want to start a Dark Sun campaign, using the material presented on Athas.org
My questions are...

- I need an fast paced adventure for PCs that have never experienced Dark Sun. If the adventure describes daily life on Athas for the average person, that would be good too. Could you point me to one? (Willing to convert)

- Miniatures... love em... gotta have them... but, where do I go for Dark Sun miniatures? Am I gonna have to mod some D&D minis?

- How do people view the old DOS games (Shattered Lands & Wake of the Ravager)? These games got me researching the setting. WOO! :D

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Zenrak - welcome to the boards!

I need an fast paced adventure for PCs that have never experienced Dark Sun. If the adventure describes daily life on Athas for the average person, that would be good too. Could you point me to one? (Willing to convert)

There are a few that might suit your needs. Assuming that you don't need to start at 1st level, Tyrian Conspiracy (available for download at athas.org) is a good choice. A Little Knowledge (which comes with the first boxed set, available as a $4.00 pdf at paizo.com) is the classic intro adventure, but is largely wilderness based. A bit higher level (around 5th to 7th level), but also good stuff is Arcane Shadows - although this might be a bit too "epic" as a starter adventure. Freedom is the standard intro adventure to follow on from A Little Knowledge. It's a fine adventure and very adaptable - some play it as an exercise in slave politics, others make it a survival/gladiator epic. Like the boxed set, these two are also available as cheap pdfs from Paizo.

Miniatures... love em... gotta have them... but, where do I go for Dark Sun miniatures? Am I gonna have to mod some D&D minis?

Ral Partha made the official DS minis, but these are long out of production. You can still find them here and there on Ebay or at nobleknight.com - or even in gaming stores that carry old products. Other than that, you can maybe find decent proxies or mod some yourself.

How do people view the old DOS games (Shattered Lands & Wake of the Ravager)? These games got me researching the setting.

Yeah, they were cool. Sigh. Too bad we don't have anything like that at the moment...

Have fun in the sun - and see you around the boards!

What do you mean we don't have them? They're Abandonware. Here's the link.

Both games. And manuals. And map viewer tool.

I demand props. Now. :D

You're welcome. Enjoy!

Yes, I'm aware of that. I mean that there are no DS-style games like that currently on the market. No props for you, I'm afraid. You can have an erdlu, though...

;)
