#1ividJun 27, 2006 23:29:47 | Hello together, Just a quick question? - Where can I get *The Fright at Tristor*? Doesn't matter if it's a pdf or a printed copy. Yours, Rafael |
#2cwslyclghJun 28, 2006 1:02:30 | I think it was an RPGA only thing. |
#3ividJun 28, 2006 1:11:02 | Thank you! It floated around over at Paizo a while ago, IRRC, but I cannot find it any more... Do you happen to know if it was just an usual LG module, or if it did feature some special content? |
#4cwslyclghJun 28, 2006 1:15:29 | If I remember right it had a special cover and stuff, and was longer and more detailed then most other RPGA modules... it may have had a printed version released in limited quantities, but I don't remember for sure. |
#5MortepierreJun 28, 2006 3:08:46 | This is what it looks like: http://home.flash.net/~brenfrow/3e/fright.htm It's still at Paizo, just not available currently (sold out is my guess) http://paizo.com/store/brand/dungeonsDragons/roleplayingGames/wizardsOfTheCoast/greyhawk/v5748btpy7n5b I think (but don't quote me on this) that it's part of the stuff WotC is currently (planning on) adding to DriveThruRPG for sale as pdf. |
#6pauln6Jun 28, 2006 3:40:42 | It would be cool if more retired LG stuff became available by pdf. |
#7zombiegleemaxJun 28, 2006 6:05:11 | The Fright at Tristor was a special Core module set in the northern Pale brought out in (I think) year 1 of LG. As understand it, it was an RPGA tournament module that got dollied up with proper (b&W) art and bound into a 32 page(??) module. The big idea was that every RPGA member was to get a copy. They'd play it, submit the results and get special certs (there was a +1 keen kukri as I recall...don't think that's too much of a spoiler). Unfortunately, the number of requests completely swamped RPGA HQ and (after spending months stuffing certs into envelopes) they subsequently dropped the idea of ever doing anything similar again. The only place you'll get one now is second hand (assuming Paizo's stash has run out), unless someone unearths a lode in a WotC warehouse (next crate over from the Ark of the Covenant). P. |
#8ividJun 28, 2006 10:31:34 | Thank you all! :evillaugh Found it at a certain internet auction house and bought it! Mint copy!!! :D Plot-wise, it seems to be an interesting ghost story or something alike(?). Though I am not so familiar with the Pale, this seems like a good adventure to DM in the forseeable future... As soon as I get it, I'll write a review here! BTW, talking about Paizo and threadjavking my own topic, is it true that there is a Maure Castle hardcover on the way? |
#9MortepierreJun 28, 2006 11:23:28 | BTW, talking about Paizo and threadjavking my own topic, is it true that there is a Maure Castle hardcover on the way? Depends. Do you believe there is a Age of Worms hardcover on the way? :P Seriously, Erik will have a tougher job making it come true. For one thing, the yearly additions to the revised & expanded Maure Castle aren't over yet (enough material left for another few years is my guess). For another, contrarily to the Adventure Path series, Maure is based heavily on a TSR module from the old gang and we all know how much WotC's white collars fear those (else we would already have a 3.5 version of ToEE) But, hey, I would love to be proven wrong :D |
#10ividJun 29, 2006 3:34:59 | But I want my... Maure Castle Hardcover!!! ;) Seriously, since the *Cauldron* adventure path (no idea if that's the real name) was also released as a hardcover, maybe Maure finds its way as well. - I had heard rumours that release dates were already fixed. I am no regular Paizo mag reader, but AFAIK they've put out nice stuff in the last years, and it would be shame to see it get lost in mag articles... BTW, can you please tell me which TSR module MC was based on? - I always thought that it was one of those experimental dungeons from the earliest days of D&D... |

If I remember it correctly, it was from 1984's "WG5, Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure". |
#12ividJun 29, 2006 10:15:31 | Danke! |
