#1nightchillJul 02, 2006 5:56:31 | Hi all, just a quick one.. In DS3 it explicitly states that Dwarves are hairless. I noticed that in "A Little Knowledge" (which I'll be running soon) the Dwarven children do, in fact, have hair. So... how do you handle it (or is there anything official)? Does it fall out at some point, the onset of puberty say? Or do Dwarves continually shave it throughout their life? Cheers |

#3balican_gigoloJul 02, 2006 9:11:55 | well in Brom's drawings in the original box set's rules book they have hair on their heads. no beards though... |
#4dirk00001Jul 02, 2006 12:33:37 | In the Prism Pentad I think they're described as completely hairless, just like a mul. |
#5hunterccJul 02, 2006 13:05:08 | In one of the Pavek books, the first one I think, there was a dwarf templar that had a full beard IIRC... and another dwarf described that hair as disgusting. |

Personally, I rule that the dwares are hairless, and that the parts of the various materials which state otherwise, are simply mistaken. I'm with xlorep here. As much as I love Brax's stuff, I was never a fan of Brax's Wisdom of the Drylander's attempted explanation of this. *shrug* For me, all Athasian dwarves are hairless, and have been that way since just after the Cleansing Wars. If we ever have an Ask a Designer session again, this should be one of the questions to ask either Tim or Troy. |
#9PennarinJul 02, 2006 21:33:35 | This thread, albeit not directly about dwarves, discusses the problem: Inconsistency #9: Do you shave your mul? |
#10zombiegleemaxJul 03, 2006 4:43:53 | Could this be related to the fact that Borys kept all the Ur Draxan's hairless? |
#11borys_sonAug 07, 2006 4:29:36 | Problem solved Propecia TM! But seriously you could have some dwarves who come far off regions where there is no desert(I always thought it was a result of the hot desert environment - dwarves being lower to the ground get more wear from the sand on their skins: result tough hairless skin). Hairy outsider dwarves are considered freeks by other dwarves. Ancient Dwarves' first focus was to become hairless: less hinderance in the new desert climate and to disguise themselves from borys. |
