#1caeruleusJul 19, 2006 14:47:28 | In what order should the Gord the Rogue novels be read? |
#2MortepierreJul 19, 2006 16:29:30 | All of that, and more, here: http://home.comcast.net/~chris.s/gordmain.html (scroll down to the bottom for the order of the novels) |
#3caeruleusJul 19, 2006 19:10:29 | Thanks. I remembered hearing that the recommended reading order is not the same as the publication order. Is this the order Gygax recommends? Also, I noticed that the list included the story in Dragon#100. What about the recent story in Dragon#344? |
#4GreysonJul 19, 2006 22:53:26 | In what order should the Gord the Rogue novels be read? I would suggest the following order: Saga of Old City (TSR) Artifact of Evil (TSR) "At Moonset Blackcat Comes," Dragon #100 (TSR) City of Hawks (New Infinities) [prequel Saga of Old City] Night Arrant (New Infinities) [anthology] Sea of Death (New Infinities) Dance of Demons (New Infinities) Come Endless Darkness (New Infinities) |
#5MortepierreJul 20, 2006 1:53:54 | Greyson, I'm curious to know why you put Come Endless Darkness after Dance of Demons given how the latter ends? |
#6grodogJul 20, 2006 23:53:41 | http://ulmo.mux.net/greyhawk/ is also an excellent resource. |
#7caeruleusJul 21, 2006 16:10:46 | While I appreciate the information being given, all the conflicting reading-orders being given just serve to confuse me further. All I've gathered so far is that Saga of Old City is the book to start with. How about answering this question: Are there any problems with reading the books in order of publication? |
#8zombiegleemaxJul 21, 2006 21:54:25 | It's fine to read them as they were published. Just like when you're watching a movie -- sometimes the story will begin with a kid, show that kid in his adult life, then flash back to other events in the kid's childhood, showing how he was molded and whatnot. There is no need to approach your reading in linear fashion, IMO. Enjoy reading these fun tales of adventure! ;) --Ghul |
