#1zombiegleemaxJul 28, 2006 3:48:00 | Is Raistlin's name pronounced "Rystlin" or "Raystlin"? |
#2jonesyJul 28, 2006 5:46:08 | Rhymes with waste-lin, as in wasting man. Caramon rhymes with care-mon, as in caring man. This is what Hickman suggests anyway. |

He means "suggests" in that Margaret and Tracy have always said to "say it how you want, we won't TELL you how we want anything said, it's open to your interpretation". However, if you ask Tracy, that's the way he says Raist's name and how they came up with the names for Raist and Caramon. |

Really? I could've sworn the appendix to one of the books had them specify that "it rhymes with 'waist-bin'." Could've been an article in Dragon, I guess. |

"For a long time, we had a fighter and a wizard on the list of "core characters" - Harold Johnson, I believe, gave them the names Raistlin (wasting man) and Caramon (caring man). Again, to get the mage beyond the standard "look" - I suggested his golden skin and hourglass eyes. Larry thought it was cool and the look of Raistlin was established." http://www.dl3e.com/features/interviews/11253.aspx |

#9talinthasAug 05, 2006 0:31:06 | Margaret and Tracy have said Raistlin as Waste-bin at various and sundry book signings and events. |
#10rogue_shadow_02Aug 07, 2006 21:13:35 | Is Raistlin's name pronounced "Rystlin" or "Raystlin"? Either one of those would work for me, though I tend to pronounce it "Raystlin". Real frustration in the pronunciation of his name came when I had a former gamer friend of mine argue endlessly that it was pronounced "Rastlin" (sounding out the "a" the same way as in the word "cat"). We finally had to agree to disagree on that one. Ohh, and first post. Hello there all. -RS |
