#1npc_daveSep 14, 2006 3:02:00 | Has anyone on this board read through the first adventure in the series yet? I can't find a thread here on making changes to adjust the adventure in Dungeon 139 to fit a bit better with the D&D Known World, so I started this one. I have seen some other suggestions, and I do like the idea of setting Sasserine on Davania. The politics and structure of the city reminded me a bit of Minrothad, what do people think of Sasserine being a Minrothad colony that declared its independence? Or would Thyatis be a better choice, or perhaps it might be a Milenian colony that developed independently? I love the art for the rhagodessa, finally I have a good picture of that beast. The rest of the creatures used all fit well in the Known World, the felldrake is the only possible exception, but it could easily be changed to another drake type if desired. A puzzle involving statues is clever, and although it uses some creatures which are not Classic D&D, those could be legends rather than creatures which actually exist. A lot of the background and history for Sasserine could be jettisoned, particularly the Greyhawk references, but this adventure path is off to a good start. I can provide more details if people want an idea of how the adventure goes. One thing I am looking forward to in particular is to see the conflict between kopru and aboleth promised in the preview from Dungeon #138. I have though about how such a conflict would go, since both are aquatic creatures with similar powers and every reason to either cooperate or fight for the same niche in the ecology. For those who remember the Night Below box set, I have been working on integrating it into Mystara, and one thing I have debated is whether to replace the aboleth with kopru, or mix them together in the same city that appears at the end of that boxed campaign. I plan to wait to see how Dungeon Magazine handles it before finishing that project. |
