I'm looking to add the books that I am missing from my collection for the tabletop books. I need the Campaign Setting, Denisens of Darkness, Denisens of Dread, and Dark Tales & Disturbing Legends (I'm pretty sure I have the last one somewhere, but I'm going to see if I can replace it anyways, and then send the old copy to a friend). I know that pdf versions exist, but I would to be able to find the actual books. Any help would be appreciated.

Unless you have a good used RPG book store nearby, your best bet is ebay

some of what you are looking for can be found at www.hitpointe.com and www.nobleknight.com; of course used at the E-Bay.

Well, I found most of the books on Amazon. Any recommendations on 2nd books to pick up to fill in the gaps?

Well, for the 2nd ED, I'd suggest the 3 Van Richten monster hunter conpemdium instead of the original VRG since it's only in 3 books instead of about 8 and you get the content of 1 more book.

I believe I have them somewhere. I have bits and pieces of 2nd edition material, and was looking to expand my library to fill in the gaps that have been left by ArtHaus' incomplete line of 3rd and 3.5 edition books.

Do you think they shall ever print a V.R.'s Arsenal Vol 2?

I wouldn't build hopes on this...

That's a pretty definitive "no."

But look at the bright side: None was ever planned, so you aren't missing anything.

If none was ever planned, why was it called Volume 1?

Just to keep the door open for a new book, I'd assume?

That's what I assume as well. But heck, I wrote a third of the thing, and I still don't have any first-hand info to share. It was just "Van Richten's Arsenal" when we were working on it.

Well, as far as not core books go, it is probably my favorate from any campaign setting.

I agree, Arsenal is one of the better supplements made by SaS.

But because u brought in this mistake, I would like to sobber about another:
Not actually a mistake like the Nr1 thing but it was not correct either. At least I felt kind a betrayed about it:

The SaS book: Denizens of Darkness (Core Rulebook) has two versions. One (I assume the first one) which I bought when it came out, and then another one which came out a year later or so which wasn't much more expensive but it was complete: I mean there where a lot more villains and monsters in it, and it bugs me that I have the incomplete version.

The two versions seem kind of equal to me but one has more monsters. In my opinion u guys should warn your customers if u do such things. Because of course I'd like to have the complete version, and not the incomplete one but also don't want to waste money on buying nearly the same product twice.

Mean no offense, but this is just a thing that bugs more for two years now.

One was 3.0 and the other was 3.5 with some extras added.

It was part of the licencing deal, they had to release an update of the Core books.

Aha:lightbulb

then it's like the MM1 and the psionics handbook. Understand.

But I feel fooled anyway. Couldn't they think of such a thing before? Those people that bought the first versions of those books were tricked in a way. I mean one year later or so they said: woops the game system we play with since the 1970 isn't perfect let's change some things and do it so u can't use the older versions propperly.
(Really, many of my colleagues bought the Players Handbook two times, because there where so many insecurities concerning rules between 3 and 3.5)

[I know that there has been DuD then Adud and now DuD again, I want to say they could have known better]

Anyway it's not nice to do such things.
And the question is why didn't they put all those monsters in the first version too, then I as collector could have been satisfied. ;)

I stop now, don't want to complain to much. It's a perfect game and really most of the books are amazing.

It was actually more than two years between Denizens of Darkness and Denizens of Dread.

Perhaps I didn't recognize it early enough. In Austrian stores the clocks go different.
But this doesn't change the fact that they dated it up and poor Panurg had to buy both books.
